Back when gyms were open our fitness cult box got a bunch of those sonos speakers. They were awesome when they worked, but the coaches were constantly having to fuck with them; probably around 40% of the time they'd just revert to hooking their phones up to the older stereo system via 3.5mm audio cable.

Well, I can't find the right truck I want used, so I'm going to buy the snow plow prep model I first linked. Finding a V8 with the 502a in a supercrew with a 5.5' bed seems like a tall order. I found one in electric blue- nope, I can't do it. They are going to put the brake controller in for the same cost and I got a little better deal. So, another Ford joins the fray here in the NEBS thread. And more importantly, GOOD BYE GMC! Maybe in the fall the used market won't be so terrible and I can find the right truck, but for now at least I won't be stranded on I95 north of Bangor with my trailer.

There are some guys on the F-150 forum who have put the 4-Auto transfer case and switch into trucks that didn't come with it. It sounds like an easy enough job. If you really wanted it bad, you could always do that. Not quite sure why they get rid of that feature on the snow plow prep trucks.

I bet if you're plowing, the clutch system in the 4 Auto transfer case is a weak link so they don't let you have that option if you get the plow prep package.

What are you trying to do? Personal speakers (aka - Bluetooth speakers) are very different than home stereo speakers.

That's what I'd put my $ on as well. Plowing would burn up the clutches in pretty short order since there's no way of locking them in.

That and putting clutches to have drivetrain pieces slip while plowing would be counterproductive on a vehicle that would be slipping in the snow and ice anyways

Yes, I am a luddite, I don't know shit. I tried my best with their support, then called the tech guy and he came over and did it all and it still won't work.

LOL not counting the 3 I've smashed on the ground out of frustration and anger, yeah 7. Luckily I have had some of them since the company started basically and got my use out of them for almost a decade. But I got my first sets in North Carolina and I haven't been down there in 5 years now? So they are prob 6-7 years old. Still...

Yes, I had a nice set up before I went all wireless and sold it, I regret.

Buy this man a beer, he just left hell.

I want mainly a tv surround sound set up, but they need to double as a daytime speaker for music streaming. Appreciate your input!

Yeah, I'll generally disable the traction control on my truck when I'm plowing, for that reason. It's annoying when you're carrying a good-sized pile and the truck suddenly kills your throttle because one wheel hit a patch of ice. I'll plow in 4-lo for a big storm (and it automatically shuts off most of the nanny systems in low range), but that hasn't been necessary lately.

I've gotten my head around losing the 4 auto mode, I think I can live without it, but what is it going to cost to put LED headlights in? The correct way, not just bulbs. $1500 or so?

Seems like the best solution would be to add some programming so if you hit the button for plow mode it makes 4-Auto unavailable.

But I guess that would cost time and money to implement so they just chose to put the cheaper transfer case in those trucks instead. And they'd get people not using the plow mode button and burning up their transfer case.

Does the plow prep ADD anything that would be good to have or no?

My advice is speakers don't become obsolete. Spend money on decent ones and if you eventually get a bigger TV with 8K or whatever the next big thing is, you'd just get a new receiver and hook your existing speakers up to it.

I spent a decent amount on Polk Monitors in high school. They're nothing mind blowing, but they're excellent for their price point. At this point in my life I would have a hard time justifying a purchase like that again so I'm glad I have them. When I got my 4K TV, I bought a new Yamaha receiver with 4K pass-through which wasn't a hard pill to swallow when I already had 5 good speakers and a sub.

    Looks like this for 2017:

Snow Plow Prep Package (4x4; requires 5.0L V8 engine) includes preselected springs and snow plow mode with dash-mounted button (replaces standard 2-speed automatic 4WD with ESOF on LARIAT) When snow plow mode is activated via the push of a button, the vehicle temporarily turns off nonessential features to provide dedicated power for the plow.

It’s the addition of the clutch pack associated with 4 auto. It’s not as easy as just turning off, the addition of a slip point is built in at that point and likely a breaking point for absorbing the shock associated with plowing.
You’d have to check the build sheet, it could be an upgraded alternator and heavier springs, but I don’t think that’s automatic.

This is how I used to be set up before I moved back north, and I didn't have a place for it so I sold everything...between this and the guns I don't have anymore..:bananadead:

I think your suggestion is the route to go, I don't even know where to start at this point though. I would want at least a mid-grade set up, or a nice one that I can add pieces to, to complete over time. Don't know how much that costs though, or where to shop. Best buy don't exist around here, and I think I want a step above walmart.

Hopefully Rob or some of you other guys have advice. I did want to avoid running wires across the room to rear speakers, but I don't know if thats possible either. :anonymous:
