I don’t do anything crazy but do see some logging roads. And I tow a off road pop up tent trailer.

Has anyone deleted their resonator on a GX470? The hanger for the resonator hinders the new bumper install and I want to delete it. Just curious if others have done it, where they've cut it, and if they've added a new hanger.

I've heard it makes zero difference in noise or drone. Chop that bish off.

I've read a lot about the brake booster failing on these things...the guy who does the ebay rebuilds only shows it being on 03/04 trucks....since mine is an 06, do I even need to worry about the brake booster crapping out and needing a $600 rebuild?

Not worried about cutting it off. Curious to see where people cut it off, if they added new pipe, and if they added a new hanger.

From my various searches on the fb group, it looks like 03-04 is more prone to failure for a variety of reasons, including the poorly sealed, rubber booted screw terminals on them that corrode. Similar to the 100 series boosters. The 05+ gx470 boosters are sealed different as far as that connection goes, which means Toyota must have realized it was a flaw.

while it’s less common the 05+ still can fail, but so do 4Runner and Tacoma electronic boosters. The motors just wear out.

After a few weeks of mulling over whether I want my GX460 to be a dual purpose daily and weekend warrior (like my last few trucks have been), or just a capable daily dad-mobile which will rarely go offroad - I decided to go with the latter. Going to get a dedicated trail rig to beat up and keep this thing pretty clean. In the meantime, I order new wheels and tires and an RCI front skid because god forbid I keep anything stock. 17s and 255/75r17 Duratracs on the way - should be here this weekend!

Haha very possible. Plan is to pick up something nice and small like a Samurai or older Jeep since I’ve only ever wheeled Toyota’s and I’d like to try something new. I already have a second car which I’ll have to decide if I want to keep or replace with the new off-road toy...

1985 blazer lowered, small block swap, lots of mods. Very fun.

Planning on figuring out the head unit wiring this weekend or Monday, and doing the TPMS ground mod...

Highly recommend the TPMS bypass. Did mine about a year ago. I think it was just 1 wire. Cut and ground the proper side.

Seems pretty straightforward, hence my willingness to try. The good Lord blessed me with a lot of things. Wiring skills and comprehension isn't one of them.. Probably have a screwed up radio and drunk as hell by the end of the weekend...
