Dobinson MRR set up

The little piece of paper in there kind of explains it all.

That's the rebound adjuster knob, goes onto the top of the strut stud so you can adjust the rebound.

 

The piece in the back fits into the hex part inside the top of the strut, and when turned, adjusts the rebound up or down.

 

Thanks @Crikeymike , I sort of figured that part out. The confusing part is the microscopic ball bearing and miniature spring that comes in the same package, and then the language that says "remove the grub screw, and DO NOT turn the strut upside down".

It made it seem like this was open heart surgery...

That being said, where does the microscopic ball bearing go and what about the miniature spring?

 

It's a spare ball. It goes under the inner part of the strut stud. It can get lost easily so they provide a spare.

You have to remove that center piece when assembling the struts so that you can hold the strut from spinning.

how has that held up since install, any sag? Also what kit did you go with? Looking at Dobinsons and wanting 2.5ish too

 

running great. working on my skidplate (CBI overland full skids) should be in at the shop in a few weeks.. the heavier springs are definitly a bit too much... going to downgrade to the lower rate springs. the rear is great, but diffinitly like it on the softer side of the adjustments the rear tends to get a bit squirrely at high speed on dirt roads, but I believe I didnt have proper settings, and was going a bit fast, not to mention the super stiff front springs unsettling the rear end.... looking to doa little trimming and put 33's on, as well as 4.88's this summer.

 

No sag as far as I can tell. I have the MRR kit with medium leaf pack. Since then I added stage 2 sso kit for the front bumper and in a month or so ill have an ath rear bumper. Will update more then.

 

Mine has been super solid since install. Absolutely no squeaks or rattles, no harshness... I have the 110 leaf pack and it was the perfect decision.

Middle of my upgrade research and found this post. Most likely will be gathering parts vs a whole kit. Question on the rears...What's the difference in MRA59-A221
and MRA59-A940? @Crikeymike Apologize if it's obvious.

 

The A221's are fronts and the A940's are rears. I think maybe you mean the A940 and A941? The longer A941 give 2" extra down travel, but require brake lines and bump stops to limit up travel.

 

Thank you. I'm researching now and quite clueless on the Dobinsons but interested for sure. Price sure seems better than the other 3. May reach out to you as I get further into my research. I'm a traveler with a 700lb load, limited armor and looking for minimal lift all around but bring my squatty rear end up.
