What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Back to LED's...just had a tundra behind me with them. Fuck him.....

 

I’m so glad that when I was looking at headlight “upgrades,” I didn’t go with LED’s. Those people make me so mad.

 

mine are a milder version(not to bright). My ambers are way brighter!

 

Question: going with a theme on my truck and I want to go to black badges I’m not seeing what I like out there so if there is a link that would be awesome or pertaining to my question what do you guys think about plasty dip?

 

Are you wanting to spray your badges with plastidip?

it holds up well, I dipped my dads badges probably 5 years ago now and theyre still going strong.

 

That was like one of the top 'mods' on TW years ago.

It holds up well for a couple years and then starts looking pretty ratty. Mine are going on 8 years and most of the plasti dip is still there.

Just tape off a little outside the badge, plasti dip away, and then carefully peel what's on the paint and it should leave what's on the badge.

 

No razor blade needed? Have you touched it up at all?

You shouldn’t need a razor blade, just tape off the badges and spray a bunch of light layers

And I stopped caring how my truck looked years ago, so no touch ups.

I painted my old 2nd gen ones. I’m going to remove the original ones and only have them on the doors. The tailgate will be badgeless. Just did 3 layers of rustoleum matte black and then matte clear. Came out nice. Then I used wide 3m trim tape and an Xacto blade to trace around them.should be good to go.

 

I made a ghetto bed divider out of some free wood. Will be black this weekend now that it’s late and I know it fits SNUG. It’s not going anywhere.

I like that! I plan to delete the rear also! I might go that route. Did you scuff them up or spray over?

Hey, so I put this on while it was -25 outside. I just made sure the decal was warm so when it was applied it stuck. Once it was applied I used a heat gun to lightly warm it up from a distance and used my fingers to push down on the decal to make it stick. No lifting so hard and it looks to be permanent. I got the decal off ETSY. I can find the seller if you want the same one. He does various sizes.
