Hey, call my dealer (they are in CT). They may be able to save you a ton of money and you can then use some of that to transport the truck back to CA. They have 19 Tacomas in stock, I think. Nice people, too:

I had a similar issue when I bought my first new car, 1992 Toyota Camry. I paid for a stereo upgrade because the salesman sold me on it. Turns out, it couldn't be done. The dealer hemmed and hawed and went round and round. Finally I sent them a written demand on my letterhead from my law office. I said I want "specific performance." That means I wanted the car I paid for, the very car. Of course, we didn't get the car, but we got a matching car with some nice upgrades. It ran great until a school bus hit it twice and crumpled it. (Car was unoccupied, so no one was hurt).

I'd find an attorney pronto were I you. Even so, send a written demand tonight letting dealer know you will sue for "specific performance."

This was the text he sent me. Temporarily no, unfortunately. Company policy change until dmvs are fully operational. We were having too much trouble getting vehicles registered in time. Too much of a liability to carry the title in the meantime.

 

Enough babbling. Call credit card company. Fill out a charge back form. Get refund from credit card Co directly. Call management once refund is issued. Tell him who you are. Tell him to go suck a monkeys D and a few choice words about his mother. Hang up feeling better. Move on to a different dealer.

 

I bought my truck there in December 2018. Had issues with financing that made me miss my original flight. Made them reimburse me for missed flight. They did have the best price around though.

 

.Not sure if you have Legal issues...Lawyers cost money...? .. most lawyers the first appointment ..maybe free and let you know if ther is a case?
The truck is gone (sold)...maybe the Manager was unaware of the deposit?

Anyways ...because of your situation.
You might be able to negotiate a better deal on another truck?..or get free upgrades..free other services they provide..?
I would talk to upper management/ owners...most dealers do not want bad advertisements...

Same thing happened to me on a 4runner.Made a deal on a purchase order agreement, put a deposit down, waited for 4runner to come . Was told it would be about a 2 month wait. About a month later of 2 month wait I get a call saying we cant honor that price and we need to renegotiate. I told them I'll be by after work to pick up my deposit. I hate slimeball shady games especially when I'm trying to conduct business. I wound up making a 6 hour drive to a high volume dealer that kept there word from a few texts and a few emails. I wound up getting a better deal anyway so it all worked out .

This would be the best and most logical response IMO. From my experience working at a dealer, it is 100% possible they did do this on accident. IF THEY WANT YOUR BUISNESS, THEY WILL GET YOU A REPLACMENT A.S.A.P.
