Yeah not a fan either the 3rd gens have them as well as other Toyota’s that use the 3.5. You can’t beat the 2nd Gen filter set-up especially with the little oil drain underneath the filter assembly. Not sure why they went in that direction, funny thing is my Tacoma canister filter is the same price at the dealer as the filter element for the 3.5s, $4.05.

If you would have ordered an 8 ball you would have gotten more than 5 HP!

Little bit of this and that
Exactly, only true fix to improve the performance of these lights is a proper retrofit. I'm wrestling with the idea of doing a retro to these or stealing the lenses and doing the BHLM to my factory housings along with the Ultimate H4 upgrade.

I have been having issues for years now with corrosion on my battery, mostly on my negative terminal. Can't seem to come up with a fix, but I came across CRC terminal spray and so I thought I'd see if it helps at all.

I also re-torqued all of my leaf spring hardware associated with the add-a-leaf I added about 500 miles ago. Glad I did. I had some considerable movement on my u-bolt nuts. They're all good now, and I torque striped the u-bolt nuts.
Afterwards, I took my spare down for some undercarriage cleaning and inspection, and tested out my factory bottle jack. Still works with my 285's. Nice!

Sweet, been looking for a hawse thats not bare thats black or grey. Like that it matches the hook, that the warn hook? Easily folds sideways to mount flat (like factor 55s) or you got to pull it in just right? My truck is metallic dark grey, so both of those might look good on mine.

Nice, I have heard about others using fluid film as well. I will keep this in mind.

I use the same crc on my terminals. It does the job. Need to inspect during oil change to see how it is doing. Preventative maintenance keeps the terminals clean.

Do you have a link for the trans PID? Your set up is slick.

This is the post I found. I don't know how to link it sorry. I used the 21D9 pid instead of the 2182 and it works for me I think

QUOTE="biborado, post: 4320749, member: 27707"]Ok I think i figured it out for the 2010+ Tacoma

    For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    2182

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 1

    Short Name:
    Trans 1

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    300.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
    °F

    Equation:
    ((((A*256)+B) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    2182

    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 2

    Short Name:
    Trans 2

    Minimum Value:
    0.0

    Maximum value:
    300.0

    Scale factor:
    x1

    Unit Type:
    °F

    Equation:
    ((((C*256)+D) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

I'm going to set the truck into the Diagnostic Mode to check and see if the numbers match up. If the PID and equation are correct, the A/T Temp light should light up at 115°F and start flashing at 130°F.[/QUOTE]

I wasn’t planning on getting a new fairlead TBH but after mounting the winch and seeing how the rope feeds onto the edge of the ARB, I had no choice. I did a bit of searching for a cheaper alternative but there’s not much out there. The SLEE was $90 or so shipped.

The hook is actually a harbor freight badlands. It easily folds flush on the fairlead. I’ll eventually get a thimble but for now it has worked out well.

Passenger fender. Should finish all my polishing tomorrow. Next week I’ll start on my engine bay detailing.

Do you think these would fit properly? I like the idea of the drainage hole and double cup size.

    All the mods
Those might be tight given they are deeper anyway + the drainage part length.

And they’d drain into the tailgate. I saw those but felt that any moisture would fall harmlessly into the bed when you lift the gate. Better, imho.
