Come to think of it..just from a start possibly backing up and braking...I think I have noticed a bit of clunk. The lift and EL096 springs been on there 35k miles now no issues, I just figured that new little clunk was a bit of axle wrap. Not sure why it would do that clunk given the springs are way overkill.

I decided that was fuel slosh.

    Update:

    problem identified and fixed_ish...

rear BP-51, remote reservoir, shock had lost some nitrogen charge. Local motorcycle shop guy gassed me up for a couple bucks and clunk gone. ARBUSA/OME says 290psi, check ‘em and top ‘em up every 20K miles.

Now my question is: why did just the one go soft..?

One went soft possible bad seal? At least you have it figured out and had it gassed back up. OME stands behind their products well from what I understand. I would contact them and ask. Especially if it loses the charge quickly.

Yeah, I’m building my high pressure gauge set up to check them all regularly now. I’m gonna watch it closely for awhile and see if it’s leaking...

You know you need a no loss chuck, right? Even then, just checking it, I would think you might lose a minute amount of pressure.

yes, thanks.... I actually stopped at my local gas/welding/cylinder shop today. Picked up a 500psi gauge, already have a piece of HP hose, gonna look online for the chuck and may even consider building a whole rig (cylinder, regulator) for checking and filling, but not sure if it’ll pay for itself or not. I paid the guy at the motorcycle shop $10 to zap one shock with his little N tank, so....

The problem is that it's very high pressure and a very small volume. So, the amount of volume that is in your hose and gauge is lost every time you check it. If you don't have the nitrogen tank to put that back, well...

Understood... I’m actually leaning toward purchasing/building a full setup (cylinder, reg, gauges). Nitrogen fills are cheap. Might even start N filling my tires, just for fun...

do you have any oil leaking from the shaft seals or a hose? also how low was the nitrogen charge?

No oil anywhere. Hard to say how low the charge was... the dude at my local dirt bike shop did not have a pressure gauge on his rig, just the output gauge on the tank reg which he set to the recommended pressure (290psi) and equalized with the shock. I saw the shock move. When I got home I hooked up my HP air strut pump from my motorcycle, which has a no loss chuck/hose/gauge and it read 270, so - his reg is off, my pump gauge is off, I lost 20psi driving a few blocks or all of the above. I have no idea how low it was to start, but I’m guessing pretty low to empty and I’m with you on “Why?”

At this point - I’ve just found the clunk and as I said, now I’m on to the permanent fix.
