Duratracs with stock suspension

Getting a flat tire today has accelerated my need for new tires. I've already decided on the Duratracs in 265/75-16. I have two quick questions as I want to order these tires today:

1. Will the tire work fine with the stock TRD offroad suspension since it's slightly larger than the stock tire? I'm pretty sure but just wanted to check.

2. Will I need to get a 5th tire as the spare, or can I just keep the existing spare even though it will be slightly smaller than the 4 other tires? I'm used to driving AWD cars where you need to be careful with mixing tire sizes.

Tires will be fine as far as suspenion goes. They will probably rub the front mud flaps at times.

Not sure about the spare, I've wondered the same thing.

 

they wont rub on stock suspension. i had A/T same size on stock for a year and never rubbed, but turning radius might be SLIGHTLY, i mean slightly, wider then usual. But that might have been my lift on it that helped

 

Yep, the Duratracs rub. I just removed my front mud flaps since I'm not lifting yet.

Wonder if a spare Duratrac will fit underneath where the stock spare is?

 

I have 265/75/16 duratracs and have zero rubbing issues on or off road. I have had it at full lock and stuffed with no rubbing offroad.

 

I would think a smaller spare could work as long as you're not in 4WD the whole time. I just don't want to have to spend money on a 5th tire that would never really get used.

 

the spare will get you to a tire shop or home if your around town. Do you have the one thats highway friendly?

 

Hm, you seem to be in the minority. You're the first person I've heard with no front mudflap rubbing with that size Duratrac.

 

Chances are you will have to do one of two things, either remove your mud flaps, or trim them down on the tire side (there is a hump there that the tire likes to rub on). I ran that duratracs for roughly 6 months without a lift and never had any real issues. But I did have to trim my mud flaps in order to stop the rubbing. I chose to keep the mud flaps on as the DT have a tendency to pick up and toss stones down the side of your truck. If you're not worried about your paint, then I say just take them off. The DT are a lot more aggressive than most tires of the same size, and those lugs really like to grab onto things in your fender.

I now have 5100s but there are photos in my gallery of my duratracs at stock height.

 

I just put an old 265/75/16 worn bfg a/t on the spare rim in place of the 265/70 under my first gen and it fits, might just hang a little lower towards the front which is how I cranked up the cable. as far as the fifth dura trac, i decided on using an old tire instead of spending good money on a tire you really won't use unless you get a fifth matching rim. I love my dura-tracs....!
