pretty much you covered it. the main thing is how to tap into the stock HU without making a mess of the original connectors. you still have to buy the TT harness just for the speaker connectors. one side plugs into the stock HU and feeds into the key amp. the other connector is used to feed the output of the key amp into the stock wiring to the speakers. that way everything is nice and clean (and reversable) should you decide to remove the amp or sell the truck.

since you are going to be working with the speaker output from the HU might as well make take care of connecting the wire for sub input as well....

Any preference on the HI Pass settings? I currently have it set to 80 HZ, assuming this is a preference thing?. I'm running 6x9 3way kicker KS on the front doors, Subaru Kicker Dash Tweeters, and 6.75 Kicker KS 2 way (coaxial) in the rear doors and will be running an Alpine pwe-s8 subwoofer

80hz is pretty “standard”. There is no right answer unfortunately. But somewhere 80-120 is ideal

Seems when I try to set gain on Amp1 (fronts) on the 1000hz 0db kicker test tune, it seems to hit the limiter on 0.

Weird. Not sure why that would be. I had mine set to around the 9 o’clock position for the front speakers and around 11 o’clock for the rear.

Not sure why yours would really be any different. What level do you have the radio turned to? Is the EQ on the radio still flat? What’s your high pass on the amp set to?

EQ is flat, although I did forget to turn the Automatic Sound Levelizer to off, it was set to Low; so not sure if that would have affected it. The Hi Pass is currently set to 80hz, with the sound set to 45

Honesty couldn’t tell you why the limiter comes on at 0. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that.

I've wired in my Alpine pwe-s8, it powers on, but I'm not getting any sound from the sub itself. I am getting a "thump" when the unit initially gets power. So I'm not sure if it's a faulty unit (Ebay, 2nd hand unit)? I'm running the speaker wires spliced and I double checked the connections and orientation and it all seems right and connected on the headunit/input side of the kicker keys harness.

I did use a 14 gauge power and ground wiring instead of a 10 gauge crutchfield calls for, would this be the issue by chance?

i doubt it's the power wire gauge. it's probably this (from the Alpine pre-sw8 manual):

In addition to what the other person said, if you’re running two sets of speaker wires to the sub, double check that you have both positives and both negatives connected to the sub. Don’t ask me how I did it, but I had a similar situation and figured out I accidentally had the positive from the front left connected with the negative from the front right, and the negative from the front left connected with the positive to the front right. It basically did what you’re describing and cancelled each other out in a way. It’s a long shot that you made the same mistake I did, but it’s worth checking

I had it pushed in, otherwise when it was not pushed in, the power would not turn on.

There is this note in the manual that I'm not sure what it means.

This is basically saying you have two options to turn the amp on. 1. Speaker level (meaning the amp reads the voltage from the speaker inputs and turns on based on that). 2. Remove turn on wire (blue line that carries 12v). In your case it sounds like you’re using the speaker level turn on. But, since your amp is turning on, I don’t think that is the problem. You might double check what I mentioned previously and if that doesn’t work, double check where you spliced into the front speakers to make sure you have a good connection there.

That section you highlighted contradicts what’s listed above though. One says REM is button out and one says REM is button in. Just pointing that out. I’m not familiar with the sub so I’m not sure offhand.

I double checked the wiring earlier, but I'll triple check it again.

ok. here’s a quick way to troubleshoot! get an ipod or iphone or android and connect 2.5mm headphone to RCA male cable. unplug the rca from your amp and use the 2.5. if the amp is on you should be getting some sound from the output of your ipod. iphone

@beetledude you mentioned the HS10 didn’t fit under the seat; can you give some more info on that? Was it height or width or ? Did neither front seat work or were you only trying one of them?

Guys! Keep this in mind 2020/2021 and some other limited models have powered drivers seats.. my 2021 has 1" room under it..
just like the 2020/21 has completely different wiring for rear speakers and HU.

I was able to fit the 8” hideaway sub under my powered drivers seat in my 2020. It was a tight fit, but I was able to get it under there without any rubbing or anything.

I did. Passenger seat is just 4 bolts. Drivers seat is 4 bolts and a couple harnesses (assuming your drivers seat is powered). You can honestly just remove the bolts and tip the seats back and have plenty of room. I never actually took the seats out of the truck.
