Yep, I know the feeling. You see a small flaw and fix it. Then you see another flaw.......

 

You’re right. I have finally said enough is enough let’s paint. Fixing to eat lunch then sling some grey paint.

 

The Chinese VFD phase converters have come a long way. They use capacitors and magic to convert single phase into 3 phase. The ones I have have a pot on them for speed control as well. Cheaper than installing 3 phase at the house or buying a single phase motor.

 

Are they loud?

 

The one on my mill is quieter than the mill itself, the lathe converter has a fan that runs all the time and is annoying when the lathe isn’t running, but I can’t hear it over the machine

 

I had a rotary phase converter a few years back and it was horrible.

I installed an American Rotary phase converter a few years back for a guy who runs a wood shop. (Higgins Fabrication, he makes super cool stuff.) it wasn’t bad as far as noise goes but it was expensive.
