Oh ya, I agree. A closed cup is definitely the way to go. In the long run you probably don't want any fallen crap marinating in the gate. :)

Exactly. I put a bead of silicone around the bottom of the cup lip to hopefully seal them tight.

The 8-ball is too obvious, plus when I played pool a lot I had some kinda psychological block for sinking the 3 ball, I was fine on stripes.

Do you keep the beard all year long? Summers are hot and humid in Georgia?

Can I get a link for that please?

The bottom of the tailgate has a bunch of drainage holes in it, just like doors have.

I use these, they work great. Replace periodically if necessary.

I too had that in mind. :) But I figured what if the liquid was something that had you dismantle and clean up the gate everytime. It would be a PITA lol. So many crevices.

Yes I do. I have had a beard for most of my adult life so I guess at 70 years old I’m used to the heat and humidity. I’ve done many things in my lifetime however being Santa has been more fun and brought me more joy than anything else I have ever experienced.

I used to use these too in the past. I guess I could try them again. In the past they didn't seem to do anything to prevent my corrosion.
My corrosion buildup is usually not between the base of the battery posts and the terminals, but rather on the top of the terminal and on the hold-down nut. Either way - I will keep this in mind. Worth trying again.

    Same here.

Corrosion will stop if oxygen isn't allowed to reach whatever is corroding. I bet liquid electrical tape would work good on stopping it. The more constant current draw there is (alarms, amplifiers, etc...) there more that the posts corrode. Battery brand also plays a part in post corrosion. I just steal one of my wife's Pepsi's every few weeks, pour the Pepsi on the posts, and rinse it off with water.

I've been using the CRC stuff for years on a couple different vehicles and it seems to work pretty well.

A few mods here and there and counting....
After the last snow wheeling trip, figured a set of Maxtrax would be a good idea.
