Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
The dealer is 1600 miles from OP - chances of ever setting foot in the dealership is nil. so she should bust them as hard as possible.

Does this apply to a dealership outside of CA, in the OP's case?

True... I live in E. WA. .. When I was truck shopping early last year, the 2 dealers in Spokane and the 1 dealer in Coeur d'Alene ID. (15 miles away) had no interest in selling me anything they didn't already have on the lot (Which was next to nothing) and what they did have was the really high-end models.. The $50K ones. I wanted the Plane-Jane SR base model. $30K ..
Except for one guy, who worked for Auto Nations and not even a real Toyota dealer, not one of the actual Toyota dealers had any interest in trying to find what I wanted of even ordering me one. I'm assuming that it was because I wanted a truck with a small(er) profit margin and not a popular Taco model. I couldn't even get them to answer an inquiry email.
The Auto Nations guy actually found 2 dealers in the middle of Montana who had what I wanted (So they said - Another story*) but they were not willing to do any kind of trade or deal, because they couldn't get enough new Taco's in to keep up with the sales demand.
Anyway, I finally did get what I wanted, but had to wait months to get it and drive 1/2 way across and back to Montana to get it.
I had to put only $500 down to hold this truck for me and now I'm feeling I was pretty lucky they actually held their promise and held the truck for me.
(*Other story- Although the two dealers in Montana .. ON their website ... Said they had 3 trucks there .. The model I wanted... Sitting right there right now ... It turns out that these were 'On Order' .... And I got, by putting a deposit down, got the last of the 3 that were coming 'soon' ... So they were all sold already, even though they were still 4 months out. I ordered in mid-May and finally got my truck in mid-Aug. ...)

How is this giving her wrong info? This is advice to protect herself. This has nothing to do with the original contractual obligation...

while you may be technically right, fighting for the “right” to buy that truck is wasted energy and time.

I absolutely feel that sting to screw that stealership as much as some of you guys and gals, but I’ve just come to the point in my life where being right is sometimes too costly for my liking.

good luck op, I hope you get what you’re looking for!

Especially last 2 sentences. As I told the GM corporate office when they swindled me on a "warranty" job, this isn't like 30 years ago when people didn't have the Internet to find out about these things, if I can find the warranty online in 5 minutes don't tell me the dealer doesn't know about it..and that I'm not afraid to speak out about how I've been treated so perhaps I can cost your company and this dealer a lot more than you have chosen to fleece me out of.

This happened to me before. The remedy was they sold me a more expensive truck for the price negotiated. I would push for that.

The dates I grow and sell are Medjool and Bahri. I used to supply the dates at Super King Grocery Store and Valley Produce.

However, 3 years ago, I received international contract, where I export 99% of the dates I grow.

If you give me your mailing address via PM, I will be happy to send you a box of my dates - free of charge.

Not only did they sell it out from under you, they still have it for sale, even though they traded it? Good grief. Take them for all you can. Good Luck

    1/16/21 UPDATE:

Dealership GM (Zimmerman) and Berkshire Hathaway CFO (Allan cady) scheduled a call with me in 2 hours via email.

    • Just finished the call. Call lasted 35 minutes. Addition to the CFO, the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, and their Counsel was on the phone.
CEO asked Mr. Zimmerman why this was done:
    • Mr. Zimmerman (dealership GM) spoke and apologized first.
    • Reasoning #1 from GM was "we have 5 salespeople on the floor. Truck was never marked for a sale."
    • Reasoning #2, "we have dealership policy never to sell truck to outside of state. We will offer you FREE flight right now, to come and take delivery of another truck."
    • Reasoning #3 "all the safety policies we have in place failed. THEre will be disciplinary actions."
I reiterated - at no point was I told to "fly in and buy the truck"
You had my DL. You have my address. You gave me purchase contract. You ran my credit, you have financing there. I have shipping quotes you acknowledged.

Once I said that, GM became quiet.

CFO STEPPED IN AND ASKED GM WHAT CAN BE DONE TO SOLVE THIS:
    • GM said he is busy, today, and hard to get other dealers on phone saturday, but by Monday will find me exact truck.

GM asked till time on Monday to locate truck. There was no further talk of "come for delivery"

GM then asked "if no red interior, will you take delivery?"

I said, please let me know my options on Monday, thank you.

We all agreed to wait till Monday. CEO gave me his personal cell phone, and told me to follow up with on Monday so that his employees are taking care of it

    Thats the update

    Well said.

I agree that would be the right thing to do. I am not looking to get a PRO/OFFROAD/SPORT and screw them. Get me a truck, and ship it to me. Acknowledge your mistake, and move on.

At the end. I am a farmer. I need a truck with a long bed. I need some cab space for my family.

If I was rich, and could afford OR LB then there would be no problems I suppose :)

Vehicle was available. Live video was sent to me. After they took my deposit. Wrote up all paperwork, they sold it, before my trucker could take possession of vehicle.

I was supposed to take possession 1/15 or 1/16.

Trucker window to pick up was 1/15-1/19.
