The 75 is about an inch taller (sidewall) in height. Other than that, they are pretty close in overall size.

Thanks man it's been interesting how it's changed things. I recall having thousands on credit cards and asking what "What exactly do I have to show for all this? What did I buy that was memorable with that?". Sadly the answer was mostly nothing.

Life definitely feels better and less stress over money helps a ton.

Been there done that with the credit card debt. I suffered some serious 6 figure stupidity issues in my 20’s that took until my mid 30’s to pay off. I did still have a bunch of cool shit from that time, mostly tools and guns, but the bad from stress outweighed the good from fun much of the time. I just moved and sold off a lot of the cool shit including my Bronco rock crawler, diesel truck, trailer, etc. Now approaching my mid 40’s I’m far happier without the stress of debt. I love looking in my accounts and seeing a balance capable of putting a down payment on a house.

I have 3 kids - 17 YO girl, 18 YO boy and a 20 YO girl....I have told them since they were little to NEVER go into debt for depreciating items..or anything with a low ROI. I think school CAN BE a low ROI - depending on the major. My oldest is in college and majoring in CS/Math - (full scholarship - academics/ACT) and my other 2 are headed off in August. My youngest is not going to take my advice and will (I fear) learn the hard way (like I did). I will help her SOME, but I will let her learn the hard way. My son is EXTREMELY thrifty. He was offered an appointment to West Point and the Air Force Academy....turned them down. However he got a partial scholarship to the school he wanted, and has earned enough money to pay the difference (the first 2 years so far). I gave each of my kids a vehicle - they can keep them as long as they maintain a 3.5 GPA (in college - 4.0 HS) and do not get into any trouble. Money makes the world go around they say - but if you are struggling with money it makes it seem as if the world is standing still, and makes you loose focus on the things that really matter.

I'm not sure how old you are...but it took me a LONG time to understand what you have obviously come to realize. Good for you!!!

I'm well in to my 40s already. My issues were I started getting serious about getting a better job and higher education late in my 20s. I was always hard working. That got taken advantage of by family that was always needed to beg for help. It took me a lot to realize that they were taking advantage and put an end to it. Once I did that I was able to save and accomplish a lot more. I've had a house on my own with no family with me mooching for over 10 years. I've been able to fix my place up from what it was paying cash.
Now I only have a mortgage and the truck loan I will never be upside down on. I felt great when i realized that I had over 10k in savings too.
It's good to be able to enjoy more of what I work hard for. As for the family that was bringing me down well they have figured out how to survive on their own since, they my not be doing great but they do what they do to get by and it's not my responsibility.

I checked mine with a GPS after the switch to the 265/75-16 and it is dead on also. However I noticed that the odometer is not accurate with respect to the distance actually traveled. My odometer shows less miles traveled than actual shown on the GPS (must be calibrated for 265/70-16 size), approximately 2 to 3% off. Need to test the odometer on a freeway for 100 miles to determine the exact % off. Just checked for 25 miles at this point.

Actually the sidewall is 1/2" taller but you have two side walls in total diameter, therefore it is an inch larger in height. Probably what you were saying but just said differently.

Be aware that not all tires measure exactly as indicated in these spec sizes.

True, but it’ll still only sit about 1/2” higher.

correct.. and that can even be less when off-road and air-downed below 15 psi.

I’m sure this has been answered somewhere in 53 pages, but is the effect on gearing and MPG noticeable with the 1” height difference? For me the extra 1/2” of height might help axle clearance on the beach, probably doesn’t matter but I need some reason to justify spending the money.

I’m eyeballing Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs or Falken Wildpeaks. I’d store my stock tires in the shed for lease turn in.

You're probably not going to be able to notice much difference with the small increase in tire size, however, if you move to a E Load tire, you will notice a change in the handling and fuel mileage from the OEM shoes.

Everything you guys said is true, but going from a plain-jane highway tire to an All Terrain (like I did) will give added height to the tire also.

I won’t go to an E load rated tire on a truck this light, so the BFG KO is out unfortunately.

Yesterday I had 265/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT tires installed on our new TRD Pro. These are the load range E, cuz we fully intend to do some off-roading locally and around Moab and from what I've read about the original 4-ply Kevlar tires, I wanted MUCH better puncture protection. So far, all I've noticed is that the steering is a bit more sensitive due to the less flexible sidewalls. These tires look better than the originals and I expect much better off-road and snow performance too. Not at all concerned about a hit to gas mileage.
