Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

I took pics the moment it showed up at my front door. And a bunch as soon as I opened it. Aint my 1st rodeo dealing with damaged or incorrect items. Going throigh an insurance claim with usps on a package they destroyed right now also. Rwal fun times.

 

I guess you can take me off the exchange list @tonered, believe it or not I actually got a lower cover sent to me from her. Only took 3 days to get from OR to TN this time. I still can’t believe it. But on a sad note I didn’t get a pen with my replacement cover All I got was a plagiarized sticker lol

At least I finally received a mostly undamaged handle (one of the tabs where it connects to the pillar was snapped off but oh well). Now I just need to set aside an afternoon to fight with the install.

 

The last thing I want is a KTJO 4x4 sticker. If some really wants it, before I burn it, hit me up.

At least I always get a sticker from @MESO - but there's a box in the mail now so we'll see.

Thinking about switching some/all of my trim pieces to Army Green so I ordered the climate control knobs first to see if I like it. I did the full MESO blackout this summer but liking the look of the AG - at least for some of them.

 

That’s helpful, thanks. Yeah, I did take a look after you posted and think it’s quite possible that’s the issue, though I’ll have to take it off again to, like you, sand it down properly. I might just try to glue/tape it in first.

I’m trying to force myself to use the handle because I got so used to not having one that I don’t go for it naturally.

 

Gotta save it, dude. We’ll slap it on the bottle of Thunderbird at the bonfire and pass it around.

\With the way it's gone with KTJO4x4, I think the proper drink to put the sticker on is the biggest bottle of Magdog 2020.........And if you remember what that awful shit is, you had a good childhood.......er I mean adult hood...

 

Got mine installed today.
Usual install issues as reported by others here - had to tweak the top mount on the truck. Another thing I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned yet was that when I snugged my bottom bolt down, it pulled the A pillar away from the tweeter grill and created a significant gap. I had to use a spacer on the back of the pillar cover lower bolt boss to make it look right when I tightened everything. Some minimal gapping at the weatherstrip, but I guess I can live with that.
Took a heat gun and razor blade to the covers to make them appear respectable.
All in all the finished look is pretty good. Function seems ok and sturdy enough. I don't plan on hanging from it. I typically use mine when getting into the truck when it's icy/slick outside.
I hate that I had to bend my top A-pillar mount. Less bothersome (but still aggravating) is that I had to modify the A-Pillar cover with a spacer when I thought I paid a premium for OEM fit.
Have some mixed feelings about it. Glad to have it, but certainly hoped for better QC.

If there is a gap to the speaker griller, then the tabs are not in the slots.



BTW, I heard from someone that got bolts with the wrong thread pitch. Friggin' crazy!

 

It was in the slot, I could see it with a light. When I tightened it down it was bending the tab!

 

Oh! That is a new one. Good job getting a spacer on back there.

 

Thats that ultra high tech perfection custom one-off OEM fit.

 

Telling you! Seriously less QC going on than my old Russian PoS sidecar. And that thing was an unmitigated disaster.
