I haven't done it but I've seen a few that have. The FSM on the tundra says to pull the Transmission out with the engine but you don't really have to. One guy on the Tundra forum just pulled his 10 days ago. Here is what he had to say. I wouldn't say it's going to be easy, but it shouldn't be terrible. Here is another write up on the subject.

If you were to pull the engine there would be no easier time to install headers. Just saying.

doesn’t seem terribly complicated. I’m no stranger to pulling transmissions and engines. That second link is good info though!

Not bad! Had to hammer down the pinch weld. Already had the CMC done. Then trim and reposition the front of the fender liner.
Still have to tweak the alignment. Got everything in the green but will get it done again in a few days after everything settles to get it exactly where we want it.
The ride is awesome! Stiffer than stock but not in a bad way at all, it's very compliant. Gonna have to get used to the driving experience again.
Hopefully getting the front bumper and sliders fabbed up this week.
Even with the HD springs up front it still rides good. Should be even better with weight up front.

Side note, after removing the air suspension, we removed all three necessary fuses to disable the suspension ECU. However this threw several lights and caused a C1203 error code. Ended up having to leave the TEMS fuse in. And doing what is called a zero point calibration. Now I have a blinking suspension "Off" light. I'm just gonna remove the bulb. No way around it that we can see. Weirdly my friend's lifted GX didn't have that issue. Both are 2005s. My build date 11/04 his is 5/04. So something changed with the software between then.

I just removed the fuses the metaltech install guide recommended to remove. No lights on the dash for me. Mine is a 2005.

Removed those same fuses. Except unless I leave in the TEMS fuse, I get the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF & Trac off lights. No idea. We diagnosed that thing for an hour, calibrating and recalibrating with Techstream. Did the "reset" and "test".

Thanks but we've been thru all of that. There's 2 under the hood "AIR SUS" and the "TEMS" is under the dash. We followed the Metaltech guide. And removed the same fuses my friend removed. I guess I have a early 2005 model and things changed later. IDK

You should be paying us to haul it away! Hopefully you can get it all sorted out. At least you have all of the mechanics at your service.

Ive seen people have random issue with it throwing codes or not. Doesn't make much sense. Did you pull the fuses while the vehicle was on? Not that I’d guess that matters.

I deleted the entire system, like unplugged compressor and everything, pulled my fuses per metal tech guide and no codes or lights thrown on my 05 built 01/05

Tried pulling when on, when off, plugging the height sensors back in, everything we could think of. I haven't unplugged the compressor. Pulling all the fuses should take care of that. But who knows. It might be worth a shot.

Yeah may be worth a try. Who knows, maybe one of the wire leads of the compressor still communicates outside of the other fuses or somehow generates a fault.
