So after many years of lugging this old school handguard around on my regular go-to AR15...I switched it out with this Parallax handguard. I started getting used to the new style of wrapping your hand around with my SLR Rifleworks handguard on another AR and really liked it and shot even better. I started seeing lots of quality builds with the KAG and I really like choking back on that BCM KAG "foregrip" with a slim handguard.

Yeah it looks mean and sexy, but it is very heavy and super impractical. The railing system on it is so stupid. Its so thick you can't wrap your hand around it. And then it add extra height to you upper rail, so not the same height if you want to swap optics with a naked upper rail. It was free float ahead of its time, but it had to many negatives.

Anyone else play with 80% AR lowers? On my last one my trigger pin holes were off a little. I tried 3 different FCG, cheapo parts kit the trigger would not function (although I did have the disconnector spring upside down :anonymous:) another FCG from a friends Bushmaster AR10 (with noticeably large burrs on the sear face) also did not function, and the Colt FCG does function but the disconnector still catches a hair when resetting the trigger when it shouldn't.

Any tips for aligning the trigger pin holes better? I have the Easy Jig Gen 1, and hand drilled from each side individually, which is what the guide says to do. Now, my dad does have a cheap Craftsman drill press and my friend a mill (which is what we've been using to mill out the FCG area instead of a router and the jig) which I could use to drill straight thru from one side, but I'd like to verify before I mess up my next couple lowers.

I could take my Colt lower apart and put it in the jig, then see where the OEM pins are in relation to the jig holes... but I'm wondering more if the alignment in the jig is where the slop is even though I "trued" the jig up square top and bottom with calipers while tightening it up. It could still be sandwiching the lower our of true.

My friend with the mill ordered an Anderson 80% jig, so that is another option available.

A one piece drop in FCG will eliminate alignment issues.

Some anti walk pins may give you more leeway if you have to open up holes.

Are you sanding the burrs on inside?

I'd be using a jig and a drill press (if possible), just less room for error.

I'm trying to avoid the drop-in one-piece deals. Not the biggest fan of those and not in my budget atm. The anti-walk pins are something on my list, but imo I still want to get the holes located correctly first.

Fair, and I will next time, but how do I verify the jig holes and 80% lower are aligned before drilling with drill press?

It seems that my holes are off true of each other is my main concern.
