New Toyo Open Country A/T III tire

I’m torn between these and the Cooper at3 xlt.

 

I'm dying to see these in a C load.
I'm worried the sidewalls will look like the SL.
35x11.5x17 C loads are also very similar and on the table.
Need some new shoes for my FN FX Pros.

 

Aren't the XLT's meant for like one ton/superduty size trucks?

 

Toyo has the 3PMSF rating which might come in handy depending on what you drive though.

 

I think that could be said for many E rated tires that find their way onto our rigs.

 

Ya, those XLT's are designed for hauling/towing heavy loads and only come in larger sizes...

 

C load have the same sidewall as the other LT versions. Mine are LT285/70/17 load range C and have the deeper sidewall.

 

Just ordered a set from my local Discount Tire—pics once they're installed.

I only wanted to say two things. First, thanks for all the info, and more importantly, photos in this thread. Second, when I was talking with the sales rep I mentioned that I was waffling between these and the Wildpeak's. He recommended that I stay away from Falken. In his experience, he's seen nothing but issues. Lot's of Wildpeak's (at this location) getting replaced multiple times to find a set that would balance properly. Really interesting for a tire that is so popular. In either case, the Toyo's should tick all of my boxes. Can't wait!

 

What size/load did you go with?

 

265/70/17 SL's.

 

Full discloser, I only made it to page 19 before giving up.

Will 265/75r16 fit a 21 OR, stock suspension, WITH factory mudflaps?

I'm done with trimming and adjustments. Got my new SPC control arms on the truck yesterday. I've been taking my time because I'm waiting for my suspension to get back from Accutune Offroad. Once I get the shocks back I'll get the truck back on the ground.

 

This is the exact reason I am not going Falken again. I warrantied my first set because of the vibrations and balancing issues. New set same thing. I ended up ordering my TOYOs last night. 285/75r16. Will post pictures as-well.

 

You will probably have to take off front mudflaps but thats all.

 

A 31.6" tire that's only 265 wide should have zero issue fitting with stock everything. You shouldn't even be close to rubbing anything at all.

 

On a 2011 TRD Offroad. I have been running 265/75/16 Cooper AT3's on a 16x8 wheel with 0 offset/4.5" back spacing, Bilstein 5100's with stock springs set on third notch. They have settled to be only about an 1.25 -1.5" lift. And yes I do run the mud flaps with no issues.

 

The 265/75R16 (and 265/70R17) are the generally accepted largest size that will fit on stock OR and Sports without modification to suspension or anything else. It is extremely common and you should be fine. I don't think you even have to take mudflaps off for that.

 

CMC, pinch weld flattened, flare plastic trimmed, and fender liner heated and reshaped last weekend.
Got my 285/75r17's mounted today. Nothing too fancy, but I think they fill up the wheel wells pretty good.
