Honestly, I believe that everyone who can within reason have gun, own one. I really don't believe every American should have one. Why? Cause I know you know at least someone you wouldn't trust with it. But those law abiding citizens who just go about their daily business...go for it. I mean it.
Lets take things down a notch cause now it's getting political and it'll get closed.

You'd talk funny with your nuts frozen too.

I only quoted you cause I saw your post first so it was an answer to both, not just you. I know you were agreeing with me on that one part. I agree, gun restrictions won't stop someone from kicking your ass or killing you if they want, but consider this. In the time it would take me to kill 10 people with my bare hands, I could kill hundreds in a crowed mall with a Ak-47 that I could legally buy in the states. Now I'm sure I'd get shot by some other law abiding citizen, but I'd still kill a whole bunch before you took me down. Try that while killing someone with your bare hands. You need 3 minutes to cause brain damage and 10 to make them into a vegetable.

I'm pretty sure someone would step in long before anyone died.

According to Fox news this guy knew how to shoot a gun and came with a loaded (12 shot) magazine in his weapon, one in his back pocket and a box (50 rounds) in his pockets

The school board didn't pick the location of the gunfight the nut case did...and as far as caring guns----who says "always be prepared!

You might say Florida is still part of the wild west....what Indian Treaty was that which was signed not more then 20 years ago to end an indian War? (Gotta be old to remember this stuff--LOL)

Give the guy credit he didn't miss his head when he shot.....

He can be the big man around me anytime someone has a gun pointed in my direction:cool:

I think when the gun came out I would have shit in my pants then fell back into it....I have a very healthy respect for guys...especially after I 've seen what they do in my job....

    LMAO...U are so right....:D

    Geeeeez I don't know---maybe it did

Everyone knows the answer to this...he was a visitor from outerspace or so he thought

No one else was shot or injured in the incident, even though Duke fired at Superintendent Bill Husfelt at point-blank range and Jones fired at Duke several times.

"I'd say Mr. Jones needs some more time at the range...I was not impressed with his shooting inability"

"Littleton turned around, crept up behind Duke and hit him with her purse."

Here is the hero...that old gal let him have it...(I don't think it was a guy carrying a purse but I don't know)

Littleton had a big purse that her mother-in-law had given her. It was heavy, she said, but it was not enough.

"Okay girlfriend what size purse do you need and we'll take up a collection on TW and buy it for you"

Actually, Your quite wrong. Years ago, out here, Some nut job with a shit load of weapons tried doing the 'ol "Shoot-em-up" in a crowd. Seems a bunch of folks, who happened to be legally carrying stepped in. The bad guy got off 2 shots, out of the 18 fired. The other 16 were from 3 people that saw him pull his weapon, drew on him, and put him down. The only injury sustained was the dead bad guy. Another instance not too long ago....A guy robbed a bank, went to car jack a lady, who lulled her gun on the guy, and fired. She missed, but the bad guy was so freaked out, when he heard the cops comming, he dropped to the ground, and surendered. Now....Had the bad guy gotten the car, how many people would he have hurt, injured or killed?

We still have gun laws. . .

    - Can't have a felony, and own a handgun
    - Must be of at least 21 years of age. . .
    - Must be licensed. . .

tons more that I don't feel like looking up.

I'm still right, your example just proves it won't work every time. :p
I'd like to know more about that story, but the way you described it sounds like the dude gets an F for planning. Drawing attention to yourself before doing something drastic and generally bad to people around you, is generally counter productive.

And why did they shoot the bad guy 16 times???? Ans: Because he didn't fall fast enough.....LOL....

OR why did they only shoot him 16 times? Ans--That's all the ammo they had?

*Boom! A ruckus woke a woman and her two young children. Her first thought was that an earthquake had occurred, and she quickly called her husband at work to confirm it. No earthquake had been reported. The woman worried that the source of the sound could be something more sinister, so she retrieved her handgun and walked down the hallway. Police said she encountered two burglars in the living room. Terrified, she fired several shots, killing one intruder and wounding the second, who will be arrested after his release from the hospital. "In my opinion, she did all the right things to protect herself and her children," said Police Chief Brandon Clabes. "It's unfortunate a death occurred, but it was a direct result of criminal activity." (The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, OK, 10/22/10)

*A 15-year-old boy was alone in his mother’s apartment when he heard a strange sound. Upon glancing into the living room, he discovered a masked man armed with an illegally possessed firearm. Police said the boy fled to his mother’s bedroom and grabbed a .22-cal. pistol. He then locked himself inside the attached bathroom and listened to the burglar ransacking the home. When the burglar attempted to enter the bathroom, the boy fired three shots. The burglar fled the scene. It is unknown if he was injured. (Times Daily, Florence, AL, 06/18/10)

*Desperate for narcotics, a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a spear and a baseball bat burst into a pharmacy. Technician Paul Hemmer confronted the masked man before he had a chance to toss the spear. Police said Hemmer drew his licensed handgun and asked the man, “Do you really want to do this?” The masked man considered Hemmer’s logic for a moment and quickly fled the scene. Law enforcement lauded Hemmer’s actions. “Not only did Paul Hemmer defend himself, co-workers and a customer … he also prevented dangerous drugs from getting out on the street,” said Sullivan County, N.Y., Sheriff Michael Schiff. “Mr. Hemmer acted courageously and with great restraint.” (Daily Freeman, Kingston, NY, 06/04/10)

*Police say four known gang members burst into an Arizona store that sells car alarms and stereos and announced the robbery. The gang members began ransacking the store and forced an employee into a back office at gunpoint. That’s when the store’s owner emerged onto the scene and opened fire with a shotgun. One gang member was killed and two were wounded. The store owner, whose forearm was slightly injured by return fire, held the three surviving suspects for the police. (Associated Press, 05/12/10)

*When Michael Lish returned home to find the back door and a window ajar, he entered cautiously with his handgun for protection. As he inspected his home, a man dressed in dark clothing and wielding a sword sprung out at him. Police say the burglar threatened Lish and walked toward him. Lish fired a shot, wounding the burglar who fell to his knees. The burglar reached behind his back in an apparent attempt to grab another weapon, forcing Lish to fire two more shots, killing him. The burglar, who was on probation at the time of his death, was also carrying two illegally possessed guns, a knife and a stun gun. (Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK, 04/03/2010)
*A man was enjoying his lunch on a park bench when, according to police, a suspect with a less wholesome agenda spotted him. Clutching a knife, the suspect approached the man and said, "Give me all your money or I'll stab you!" The mugger grabbed the man and shoved him against a fence. The suspect may have intended to inflict bodily harm on the man, however, he didn't realize his would-be victim was licensed to carry a firearm. The man drew a handgun and opened fire on the suspect, wounding him. The mugger was to be arrested upon his release from the hospital. (The Hartford Courant, Hartford, CT, 04/27/10)

*A crazed, knife-wielding man attempted to stab people at random in a convenience store parking lot. Police said he'd already chased a delivery driver and others when he ran down a car leaving the lot. He lunged at the car's driver with the knife, wounding him. That's when the driver, whose two young stepdaughters were in the vehicle, produced a handgun and fired about six shots, killing the attacker. The driver will recover from his injuries. "You've got to protect yourself," said witness Byron Cook. "He had his two kids in the car and they were terrified." (WREG-TV, Memphis, TN, 03/05/10)

*Police said that shortly after midnight three men broke into a home seeking money and drugs. There were no drugs in the home, but there was a .22 cal rifle—and an 11-year-old boy trained in its use. The boy leapt to the defense of his mother and sister. One of the intruders shot the boy, slightly injuring him. The boy returned fire, seriously wounding a suspect and causing the men to flee the home. Police found all three intruders nearby. That wounded man was airlifted to a hospital and will be charged after his release. (San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio, Texas, 01/20/10)

These never seem to make the news though....

    My thoughts in a nutshell.

I wrote up something (looks like I was lucky enough to delete it) that I'll try to rephrase: I get really upset with extremists with one side or the other of this argument.
    Speaking in general terms,
People are going to have guns. Some of those are bad people. It happens.
Ramming down "I've got a right" doesn't mean you are right, should have the right, or we are perfect.
The world is flawed, we have to work objectively to make it better.

Let's say I'm a charitable fatass or an old lady with an active lifestyle. The only things I can handle in battle is a cheeseburger or final jeopardy. You come swinging, I'm not exactly throwing down haymakers.

    It was a good post
