Yes us farmers, usually do relate to midwesterners well. I try to see the good in the situation. If they make it right, I will keep my positive outlook of midwesterners alive :)

Hoping this works out for you. I have multiple new car buying disaster stories, but that wont help you. What I will never do again is buy a vehicle without driving it first. Much less not even seeing it first. I know you want this exact or almost exact truck, but hopefully you dont run into this problem again with other dealers that are not near you. Are you sure you want to take that risk? Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me. By the way, had dinner with friends tonight, their son is stationed in 29 palms. Oh, and I wouldnt buckle on them finding you a "close match". I'd really push for the exact truck first. Again, watching to hope it works out with you.

I have no problem buying unseen. I bought my Porsche and it was delivered to my house, I then had the option to sign papers or send it back

It would seem quite reasonable to ask for reimbursement for your F150 rental fees.

    Thank you

agree buying sight unseen is for sure risky .

late last night toyota of Sunnyvale reached out (300 miles from me). They found the same truck. Wont take a dollar less than $36,300 sr5 DCLB. So it’s $2,000 more than other dealers. But it’s closer

GM did “promise” to locate exact truck by tmrw. I always have option to walk away tmrw (I am sure they will b happy if I do)

My property backs up to where your friends son is stationed - we are very close :)

Good luck - you've got some good advice and the farmer in you is showing (polite, tenacious, level headed, fair minded). I'm a business man but we own a small horse farm as well. My wife is a stay at home wife/mom (kids are in/headed off to college now), but she is a farm girl. As a farm girl, she too shares your qualities and if she was in the same situation, would be just as tenacious. I look forward to hearing the good news from your call with the dealership.

My wife grew up with horses - and she talked me into them many years ago. We've moved a lot - with business - 7 times in fact (from Miami Fl - through NC, AL, VA and now TN). We plan to retire here in TN - our farm is boarded on 2 sides by a river so we canoe and kayak often. I have grown very found of horses and though they are expensive - I've found them a great stress relief. Ronald Reagan said: "There is nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse." That is obviously true for women too - HAHA. Good luck.

Nice to see I am not the only one who has read about Reagan! Haha

jealous of your land and water. We don’t have it here. We have well system ($60,000), to get any water out here. Would love to kayak and lake but have to live vicariously through you

yeahs ago I saw the wild horses in Wyoming - it was majestic to say the least

yes I always hear how pricey and horses and boats are. I figured they are like Ford Raptors - I can never own one - but I can appreciate them from afar

stay safe and stay well !

If you have any questions about getting into horses - just message me privately. It CAN be done relatively cheaply, especially for pleasure trail horses .

    Hi Julia
Interesting reading all the commentary and advice on “asks”....
Like I wrote earlier. It appears you have their attention and the dealership is being professional
The “fix” is in the hands of the GM with higher up oversight (your biggest weapon)
When the GM calls to tell you what he has found and give you options I would EXPECT that it will be the total package AND that they would pickup the cost of delivery IF you were originally paying it

in other words. I don’t think they’re going to ask you what else do you want to make you happy

most departments at a dealership are “cost” centers. So if you want something. Think of things that don’t cost the dealer actual money. (Not to help them bUT to help you) You being far away makes that harder
bUT to give you an example. Ask for things at their cost (wholesale) Like a toyota bed mat or window tint if they do it in house

transportation delivery fees they probably have a contracted rate so that’s not a big expense for them and that’s why I think they will offer it to you without you asking
bUT te imbursing you for truck rental fees is actual cash they have to pay you so that is going to be harder

there’s not a lot of markup on new vehicle sales. It’s not how a dealership makes $. So the GMs budget to solve ur issue is limited to what he wants to lose if anything and he only wants to make one more telephone call. To tell u he found ur truck and here’s the deal

    hope this helps. Good luck

    Thank you that helps

    truck msrp was 38k

selling price was 34,300, had bed mat, $248 all weather + predator steps

    shipping was $1200 (my expense)

If they find me a truck - none of those accessories, I have no problem. I guess I can ask for accessories, or have to renegotiate price if they truck has no accessories ? Should discount percentage be same as before ?

if they absorbed shipping cost / would make me happy

kept saying “let me buy you a ticket and you dive it home.”

    That’s a $300 discount offered there
