Been stopping to look at least a couple dozen new 2021 tacos here at different dealers in recent weeks when passing by. Not a single one seen on the lot with a factory tonneau cover installed like i use to see on last years trucks. Just curious what gives...is there a shortage, or is now a dealer option if someone wants it?

It's junk, you don't want one anyway. Believe me I have one. Leaks, fades and is to heavy. There a hell of a lot better covers put there.

I believe the parts for the OEM tonneau are hard to come by which is likely why you don't see as many.

With that being said you can find a used one from someone on here or on Facebook groups/marketplace.

With that also being said I got one from a member on here for cheap. The cover does it's job. I don't keep precious documents in my bed so the small amount of water that gets in doesn't bother me.

Right now you can only get the factory tonneau cover on Magnetic Gray and Army Green based on the Toyota build page.

I had OEM cover before buying my shell. As others have mentioned, it leaks but not a lot. If I was to go back to a cover, I might consider a Snuglid or Diamondback.

My oem cover leaded like a sieve through the trifold gaskets. Toyota replaced under warranty and the new one “only” leaks around the sides which is a significant improvement. I wouldn’t expect it to be completely leak free. All in all though if I were starting all over again I wouldn’t bother with the oem cover. The cheap vinyl cover I had on my Tundra did a better job.

I just got a 21 ORD from a SE Toyota dealer and they only offered a soft cover Toyota tonneau and wanted 700 bucks for it. They wanted 1200 for an aftermarket hard cover. Ended up finding the lomax stance thread here and purchased through a member. Super pleased with it and got a great price relative to the above.

Get an aftermarket, not OEM. Aftermarket covers are cheaper and some allow full access to the bed, which the OEM doesn’t. Supremely disappointed in my OEM cover. The gaskets are trash and it leaks badly.

Maybe it’s your market area but I got one on my 2021 Barcelona Red Metallic in Arizona.

I changed the ZIP code to 85226 and it let me add it to an OR in Barcelona Red. I tried a couple other colors and it let me add it. I wonder why they would make that option allowed on different colors based on a ZIP code. But if I use ZIP code 63028, it only lets me select the option on the colors I posted before.

I got the oem one used for $150. Hardware and all. Just look for the right deal.
Mine has been great, very little leak.

Didn't ask if junk or not. I've have the factory tonneau cover on my 2020 truck for nearly a year now, and its fine...no leaks either. Yeah, i'll agree its heavy, but seems to be made well.
When i looked at 2020 trucks on dealer lots last year a number came with tonneau covers. This year i stop by dealers i've not seen any.

Love my factory one as well. Plus it stores nicely in the garage when I don't want to run it.

I probably would of bought a 4runner or some suv if i needed to put some type of top like that on it. The factory tonneau cover works well for my needs....do wish it were lighter though.

No but i'd wonder how that top would stand up long term to a 20'' heavy snowfall, or a serious ice storm.

I looked at a black truck in 86004 that came with the OEM tonneau cover. I ended up buying one from a member here, so far so good. I had a Diamondback on my Raptor, it was awesome but cost me 4x what I paid for the OEM Toyota cover from a member here off his 2 month old truck.

I have the factory hardcover. It is a bit heavy for reinstall and only opens 2/3 of bed but otherwise it's robust and water resistant enough for me
