Buying everything yourself and tuning it on your own can get expensive, usually $500+ easy just to get the equipment, licensing, and buying a tune pack. I'd recommend you hit up @Stormpeacock . He's tuned myself and over 20 other Tacoma's here in Georgia, NC, and other SE states. Check out more info on his website: stormpeacock.com

He's got a thread on here as well that has info on it. If you do still wanna go the route of buying everything yourself and doing it, then I'm sure he'd be happy to help you with questions you'd have

I forgot about the advisement in the manual to run in 4x4 once a month for ten miles. I think I've been in it once.

I need to find even a dirt road around here.

a lot of bad ass stuff
I dont think a lot of people do this, to be honest.
If the roads are really wet from a good rain I have just flipped over to 4hi just to get some miles that way.

Quick question about rear drum brakes -

I am getting ready to replace my rear brake shoes, and having not replaced brake shoes for many years, don't remember if the hardware (springs, etc.) need to all be replaced, or just if necessary (broken, etc.)

The truck has 153K miles on it, and fortunately, no leaks from the rear axle.

If she’s interested in a full set, I’ve got a set recliner, loveseat, and couch, all reclining!

We just got a sectional couch with a big matching ottoman for better snuggles with the pup

I believe it’s “highly recommended” to replace the springs and such while you’re in there. I did when I replaced mine at about the same age as yours. The hardware kit wasn’t expensive from what I remember, even though I bought it from AutoZone. I’m sure you could find it even cheaper at Rockauto or Amazon. It was like $25 or $30 when I bought it a few years ago, from what I remember.

I fell victim to bed mat theft just before the weekend. Typically I keep a tonneau cover on the bed but have recently had to haul a chipper so the bed's been bare. Went to leave for breakfast yesterday morning and noticed someone swiped my bed mat. Either done at work (where my truck is literally less than 50 ft from me) or in my driveway as it was there Wednesday and I haven't been anywhere else since then. *facepalm* Guess I'm bolting the next one down.

Hahahaha. I mean to be fair, that main spring is a real pain to reinstall, so I doubt that thing would stretch out. But whe I thought about how often the brakes are used, I started to think think “eh, maybe at least one of them isn’t as springy as they once were”. It was cheap insurance basically.

I suppose if you were trying to be real thrifty, there’s probably little risk in re-using the hardware. Worst case, the front discs can still stop you (found that out when I went for the test drive and forgot to adjust the rear brakes back out).

Wow that sucks. Thieves deserve to lose hands imo.
On a lighter note, saw your truck at home depot Saturday morning.

Definitely was me! Now I’m about to talk to my boss about checking our cameras at work and also getting a quote to install some wired cameras at the house I’ve had sitting in boxes for the past year. (Cousin in SC in the industry gifted me some Hikvision cams and I just don’t have the time or tools to run all the cat6)
