Future Tacoma owner with questions

I'm not new to auto forums as I have accounts with several TR forums beside a couple of Bimmer ones and my daily ride is a 2013 Ody.
In a year + my wife and I will be buying a used Tacoma for our Western Caribbean beach house that we will be building starting next year.
I was curious about drive lines for the trucks wondering if they are available in f4 wheel on the fly shifting and if it is will it only be available in a big package deal.
The only thing extra we really want is Bluetooth capability.
We are looking for a 4 door to pick up guest at the airport.

Welcome to TW! I'm not sure about 4 wheel on the fly as I have only owned 2WD tacomas.
Yes, Gen 3 (2016+) has bluetooth capability and Apple Car Play or Android Auto.

 

All 4wd models can be shifted between 2wd and 4hi on the fly while moving (only shifting to 4lo requires stopping and putting it in neutral). I believe only 2018 and newer have Apple Car Play and Android Auto, but all have bluetooth for calls and music.

 

you may want to spend some time in the back seat, spacious they are not
depending on the size of your guests it may be a real bad first impression

You mention 'used'.

Spend your efforts looking for the right condition truck. Bluetooth is something that can be added later to anything for low cost.

My time in the Caribbean rim countries, especially Western, makes me think that if you can find the right truck there you'd save a bunch on import taxes. And obviously shipping. Be sure to investigate that carefully.

But if you consider buying local be very very careful related to the care, maintenance and rust, particularly of the frame. Many vehicles in those areas look like they have lived in New England. Salt is a killer. Driving a salt water flooded road in a tropical storm can do as much corrosion as a full winter stateside.

In other words, read up on here about frame failures, hidden frame rust, how to examine, etc.

Now then. In these countries you should have the option of a Hilux and not be as restricted with US nanny systems. A friend in Guatemala has a Hilux turbo diesel 5 speed. The intercooler lies on top of the engine, being aired by the functional hood scoop. Something to consider, as these countries typically have diesel as their primary fuel source and it's a lot cheaper than gas. Just the opposite of the US.
