Hmm, the premium XG9972 looks interesting enough though... Might use one in the Camry, but the Tacoma probably not. Gonna do the first change myself at 5K and let Toyota do it at 10K. Sounds crazy letting someone else touch it, but ehh.

Not gonna fret about the 0w20 in there either. Looking like Valvoline Advanced Syn 0w20 is the top runner for me.

Thinking about using it in the Camry. Pennzoil Platinum was too noisy, but the current fill of Castrol Edge is nice an quite. The 2.5L is a noisy little bugger! Valvoline quieted the 3.7L in the Jeep and even the 4.0L in my old Tacoma.

Just out of curiosity, would it be better to knife-edge the center web? Seems like it would flow better than a more blunt rounded edge. (asking for a friend)

Had keys for the garage side door sitting in the bay next to it with the deadbolt striker for two years, saw them about a month ago. You’d think I could find em now to lock the garage now that hubbys moved up? NOPE. Only place I havent looked (hard) is the 55gal trash bin out there so might as well dump it out and start fishing.

I saw an article many years ago about head flow from one of the NASCAR engine gurus. Very very interesting. Ideally a flow bench is what is needed however two things that stood out.
    #1
Really smooth ports doesn’t necessarily mean more flow.
    #2
Sharp things in a air flow don’t help.

if I was interpreting what I read right I took it as the only way I can explain it
Is a airplane wing flows through wind around the surface accelerating the upper surface.
If it was sharp it could actually “cut” the air flow disrupting it and add a pocket of dead air behind it.
    Then it hinders the flow.
Some turbulence is necessary for mixing..

    On Edit.

I smoothed sharp edges and rounded over bumps and matched the mating surfaces. Opened them up slightly. But without a flow bench etc you can hurt the flow doing wild stuff. I know what I did helped. But, I stopped before I went to far..

Thanks for the knowledge sharing, I ended up grabbing M1 EP 0w-20 and a M1 filter with an end cap.

Haven't changed a cartridge filter since we sold the corolla 4 years ago, need to dig around and find the wrench. Hoping it's the same size...

We were going based roughly on the pictures of the upgraded aftermarket turbo header that this new turbo was port matched to. I'll try and find the pic so you can see what we were recreating roughly.

Was the Corolla a 1.8L? If so it won't fit the Tacoma's 3.5L housing. The 2.0L version does I think.

    Excellent

The M1 EP 0/20 is a great oil. Not quite as heavy as the 5/20. But a solid choice.

It should. I'm 99% sure there's only one size. I've used mine on everything from Tundras to Prius

It's very well possible. However on my MotivX tool it says it won't work on the 1.8L housings so that's kinda what I'm basing it on.
