Wife was busy in the kitchen so I went about the job myself. Driveshaft put back together. It almost feels a little tight like the spring clips a hair too thick...it'll loosen I suppose 20210117_135746.jpg

"Gently" tap where the joint goes into the shaft. That should loosen things up. If you have ANY binding or resistance it will not last long at all.

Hmm, ok I appreciate that advice. I actually did that on the first two in and that helped a bunch. Do you mean right on the end where the spring keeper goes over the cap?

I highly recommend it for garage wrenching. I use my 21 gallon HF Central Pneumatic compressor to power it. It's an infrequent use item, but comes in handy for tire rotations, lawn mower blade changes, etc. Been thinking about getting the 3/8" version for when I tear down and rebuild the old 20HP Kohler off a friends Terrimite backhoe.

Any of you know anything about old built in compressors? I got as far as turning it on to check if it runs, it does. Need to figure out valving, drain, etc.image.jpg

What do you need to know ?Like setting up pressure switch etc

Looks like it could be a Truck Compressor someone borrowed and hung a motor on.

quite a few of those were floating around back in the seventies .

The drain on the right looks just to drain the moisture build up. Looks like a farmer fix :D

My dad used to use old truck compressors on his when I was a kid. Would go through one every couple of years, he always found another used one to replace them with.

@tacotoe nice job with the u-joint, especially in that environment you’re working in!! I like to use a vise end an air hammer of access to one... if not a vise and a hammer and some sockets that fit the u-joint
