Alright everyone after a whole bunch of research on here I decided to take a shot on a wheel and tire combo to hopefully fit on my stock TRD Off Road suspension. I wanted to go with 33’s with a more aggressive tire and little more ground clearance with out shelling out a bunch of money for suspension just yet. So i got something that so far works well i think. I went with a set of RaceLine Gauge wheels in a 17x8.5 with a 0 zero offset and a 4.75 backspacing and for tires i went with the Kenda Klever RT in 33-10.50-R17. So far the only rubbing i have experienced is when turning in reverse. I have stock suspension and haven’t done any trimming and i am super happy with this setup. I’m sure I will get some rub when on the trails and i can figure out what needs to be trimmed then but for a daily driver this combo is awesome! Wheels and tires look amazing the tires ride very smooth and are not loud at all. Any way just wanted to post this here because I haven’t seen anyone try this combo yet and to let people know you can go with a 33 on stock suspension. Here are some pics of the setup and i made YouTube video walk around of the setup. Thanks

    Looks great!

How close is it to the UCA? Where is it rubbing when in reverse? Thanks.

little bit of here and a little bit of that...
So if I have the stock 16inch trd pro wheels, I could probably do 34s...?

Plenty of space from the UCA. Where the rub is coming from in reverse still not sure yet

Well no, you can have more tire hight but the diameter will still be the same.

I ran those tires in the same size for awhile and really enjoyed them. Great tire and no rubbing in that size. Surprised more people don’t try them versus going the skinnier 255 route. Nice color by the way LOL

OP says you can put a 33” on stock suspension. Installs a skinny and immediately rubs

I mean you can technically fit a 37 as well....

He basically got it right as I’ve wheeled those tires all over the west coast including an extended stay in Moab and never once did they rub anywhere. Works great with the 4Runner Pro rims.

    So his statement is true.

    So is mine.

We all know skinnies are easier to fit, tire size challenges has and remains with width.

But everyone has a different tire fitment experience.

This is true its just a nice 33 that doesn’t cause any major rubbing on stock suspension.

Anyone able to fit 285/70/17 on a tacoma trd off road with stock suspension and no body mount chop? My wheels are 17x8.5 -10 offset Still waiting for suspension parts but I am itching to put the wheels on.

Looks good but it is common knowledge that skinny 33's do fit with minimal or no issue.

This is true but I couldn’t find anything on 33x10.5 which is wider than the actual 255 that people call skinny. This tire is probably closer to a 265 or 275 width but with the height of a 285-70-17 that more people commonly run.

Ya you are running a 265/75-17 essentially. A taller stock tire more or less.
