They asked to have till tomorrow. Thats the time limit.

If they can’t solve it tomorrow - I will get it elsewhere

I am not looking to drag it out further with them.

I need a truck and I don’t need additional stress unnecessarily

With the help of all I have a decision matrix

    I also have truck B, C, D lined up.

My plan is to make a purchase Monday evening - if original dealer can’t sort it by end of business.

    I appreciate your help :)

I don’t know about a better deal - but we shall see

maybe higher power doesn’t want me to have a sr5 - like toyota locks it out here for a reason LOL

    wish me luck :)

It’s your money, only you have to be happy with what you buy.....(especially in year 4 when you’re still making payments)....and if you don’t have the extra $3000, it doesn’t matter......

btw, $3000 difference up front doesn’t translate to $3000 on the resale......more like $1200, and really, mileage is the most important thing on resale.....

personally, I usually buy Toyota certified preowned....let first owner take the depreciation hit, still get fully checked out vehicle from Toyota with warranty.

my 2010, is a third car I use for commuting and a little Project.

That price from VP Toyota doesn’t include taxes right?
I had to pay AZ taxes on the truck when getting registration and plates at DMV.
I found that out when I was negotiating the price.

For what it is worth, I think the SR5 is the sweet spot in the Tacoma line up between what you need and price. I had a 2005 SR5 (but it was an access cab) and had it for a long time. Loved that truck. Upgraded to the 2020 TRD OR. But, to be fair, I really wanted the SR5 which would have been plenty of truck for my needs (used only on the weekends, light off road, etc.). I got the TRD OR only because I couldn't get my hands on an SR5 when I was buying. Had one been available I would have grabbed it and saved a few dollars along the way ...

In the end, though, you get the Tacoma you are supposed to get ... :)

You have the right strategy ... proceed on multiple fronts and grab the best deal ... this thread will only end with a picture of a shiny new Tacoma ...

Are you rock crawling and looking to do a lot of off roading or is this more a farm work truck? How often do you need 4wd? If the locker is still the same as the one on my 2008 TRD, it only works in 4low and up to like 5mph or something like that.

Well I gave my “professional recommendation.” Some people on here know my “profession” and know I’m not here blowing smoke up someone’s 5th point of contact.

but hey you could always just use www.google.com

I’m on here just for fun, not for work anyways.

This is spot on, an individual’s needs determine which package is best suited. Maybe $3K is pocket change to some but not to most.

Yeah genius, we all have women in our lives and and they all have equal rights and protections as any other citizens. I have spent many years in the car business and have yet to hear a single back room story of anyone saying "You get the next woman that comes in so you can rip her off". It simply doesn't happen. The bad guys in the business don't discriminate. They take advantage of everyone. There is absolutely no need to jump to stupid conclusions simply because of gender. You hear the story of the boy that cried wolf? I mean seriously do you see any indication that this is a gender based issue? I mean at all? Using something like that is a disgrace to anyone who is actually been discriminated. Not to mention that it will undoubtedly alienate anyone within the organization from wanting to help her. It will immediately classify her as being 'that girl'. The one that draws irrational conclusions. I'm sorry, but your advice is bad.

I severely doubt they are attempting to "take advantage of females". A newbie salesman screwed up and didnt mark the truck sold/put it on the sold lot. Aside from that, legally until you sign the last page of the purchase agreement....its still their truck. They offered to completely refund you and put you back to net zero, so I fail to see where the "advantage" was taken. Normal auto dealerships are a festering pot of miscommunication. Ive had past dealerships where people sitting 3 feet away from each other couldnt be bothered to relay messages. They f-ed up, and are totally 100% in the wrong. You have two options, let them find you a truck and complete the purchase (btw id ask for my deposit back since the truck you made the deposit on is no longer available. that allows you to walk away at any point if anything further goes south) or get a refund and find another dealership to service your needs.

Could be worse, I traded in my 2016 on December 18th and the dealership still owes me a check for $16,000.

First order of business: get your deposit back. Then make them work as much as possible, before you go away and buy it elsewhere.

I think OP is well sorted and has a viable plan.

Much more together than the typical hyperbole we see from disgruntled buyers or wannabe buyers demanding that the get a TRD Pro for the cost of an SR for the mental anguish heaped upon them by a dealer that forgot to install the TRD floor mats or some other stupid shit.

    It's good to be gruntled.

That is a serious problem and something that goes mostly unreported and is usually no accident. The longer they hold out on paying your truck off, the more they make. Sadly you are still on the hook for making payments until they pay it off as well as being a knock against your credit if you don't.
