Sorry to hear about your brother. Proud of you for using that to stay away from it instead of an excuse to use.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words. After reading my post, I didn’t mean to come off as attention seeking. I thought maybe my brief story could help someone, one way or another.

I’d like to share his whole story sometime although very obviously tragic. Even people in Hollywood couldn’t think of some of the stuff I have witnessed. Still coping so I try not to let his death define him as he had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back even if he didn’t know you.

I hope every one is having a great weekend. Please PM if you ever want to chat, doesn’t matter the topic. We can talk about farts if you want.

Welcome Back then. :hattip: Guess you’re one of the lucky ones bein’ able to talk about it. Just lost another friend over the weekend. Great guy too. It’s all about Progress, Not Perfection. My late friend chose not to talk about it. Thought he could solve it himself. Glad he finally found somethin’ he could do perfectly. Sadly, I don’t think his Family feels the same.

You're not alone in this journey. My life came crashing down around me 4th of July weekend and I wouldn't find the rooms of AA for the first time until a month later. My self will finally ran out and I couldn't control it anymore or fake that I could. There are good people here and we are there for you.

I am responsible, when anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there, and for that I am responsible.

When I first came back in I kept thinking that I wasted all those years by drinking again. Then it dawned on me that no I didnt waste all those years. God had given me a pretty durn good 30 years. Besides we only stay sober for a day at a time. Drinking again reinforced one thing to me.... that I cannot ever handle alcohol. Glad you have a new sobriety date some people never find their way back again.

I took my last drink about 7 years ago after leaving the bar and getting into it with my girl. I was blessed to grow up in the AA program (I was the little kid handing out birthday cake and filling up coffee cups lol) I don’t even know what else to say besides..... you guys are all awesome. Anyone ever needs to talk feel free to send me a private message.

I am going to leave this here for everyone to see. I use this video a lot within my practice to be able to help patients gain that sense of purpose and pride when they finally come to that conclusion that they need to make a change. In this topsy-turvy world, anyone can use any excuse to relapse. That part of our brain will always be with us....... lying to us....... telling us just one last time. Every day, people fight to focus on not learning how to "Beat" it but learning how to "keep up with it."

I’ve seen Shane Koyczan twice in person. He has an amazing, unique way of talking about depression and loss and over coming it all.
