In case it doesn't include it, taking off the factory bed and bumper saves you about 250 pounds.

Correct, that did not include the weight of the factory box removed.

I'd still like to weigh the factory 5ft box, but that number sounds very accurate for the factory 5ft, and my guess is 275-280lbs for the 6ft version.

With that being said, the decks will add 200lbs~ for these trucks which is very reasonable.

@Ralf Do you have a picture of the actual product?

Looks like this is a ute tray with some dress up added.

Would love to actually see a US built product like this!

Also, did I read that correctly that the base tray, without the under tray boxes or drawer will be $7000? or does that include those items?

What would the benefit be of purchasing your tray over the ute ltd? I believe they retail for around $2617 for a similarly optioned tray.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

@Gunshot-6A Well then maybe you can comment on my questions regarding the large price difference between this and a similar product instead of trolling?

Correct, what you're seeing was an existing product with finishing touches. This was going to be the initial route, but it's proven to be more difficult than anticipated to do so. So instead, we will be producing our own ground up product.

When comparing pricing for the base tray; the trays you see for $2617 do not include lighting, do not include a finished bumper, do not feature one-piece fenders, uses plastic hinges and latches, and require quite a bit of DIY. Those trays also don't allow for a tool boxes or a drawer to be added, without serious modification. The other note is, as you can see in my pictures, is that type of tray sits extremely low and reduces off-road articulation. Additionally, their mounting brackets don't allow for a drawer either, which I did not like. We started with the Ute tray to see if it would work, and simply put, it's cheap for a reason.

    The benefits of our tray will be the following;

    - Designed and manufactured in Canada, short lead times and immediate customer service
    - Full aluminum construction, no rust, and can be painted however you like.
    - Easy bolt on installation, all hardware included
    - LED lighting, with plug and play connection
    - Stainless steel latches, hinges, and tie downs
    - Finished bumper
    - Excellent tire clearance
    - Single piece fenders with mud flaps, and options for larger fenders for this with bigger tires
    - Exterior tie down rails, either side
    - 10 interior, flush mount tie down rings (12 for the longer wheel base trucks)
    - Fuel filler relocation kit
    - Dual tire carry head board
    - Modularity; optional tool boxes, drawer, and water tank can be added at any point, whether at point of purchase or a year later. There's no required up front commitment.
    - Tray sides are optional, since some customers won't require them, so we left them out.
    - Shipping throughout Canada and the USA is reasonable, and right to your door.
    - Won't require a shop to install this unless you choose to. Can be easily installed in your driveway. Basic tools required only.

These are all features that really set us above the other brands. So for $7,000 USD you get a whole lot more, and there's always the option to add the additional without having to buy the complete kit unlike other brands. We took out all the headaches; one product, no additional hardware or runs to the automotive store required.

Now we are working on a sub $7,000 option, so less features, but can still accomplish a similar end result. Still modular, but without the interior tie downs, a blank headboard, things like that.

Expected finish product to be ready for end of January.

That being said, this one you see here, with the tool boxes and bumper will be for sale soon too.

I hope this helps clarify things :)

@Ralf thats exactly the kind of info I was looking for! Thanks for taking the time to answer those questions. Seems like a very cool idea and I cannot wait to see the final product.

I assume since the shipping is reasonable, that these units will be bolt together and flatpacked? Maybe a fully welded tray with a bolt on headboard?

look forward to seeing your company progress and for the pictures of the completed project!

Absolutely, any further questions, feel free to ask! You are correct, fully welded, with a bolt on head board. This has proven to work well, and can always be welded at delivery, but isn't necessary. I definitely appreciate any feedback or things folks would like to see as far as features go! Going to accommodate what we can!

This is a nice way to tuck it away  We're looking at offering a base model flatbed that doesn't have a headboard, for those guys that want to run a fulltime canopy or camper. So the fuel filler has been a topic of focus to ensure a clean mounting either way. I do like this one, so thank you for giving me something to take into consideration :muscleflexing:
