I'm still waiting for Winter to arrive here in N.C. It's been a strange season so far. We need a good week of temps in the 30's to help kill off the bugs, and stop everything from blooming early. I don't want to loose my blue berries to an early bloom and a late frost or hard freeze.

There is an offroad park there. Maybe someone was stuck calling for help. You should've picked up.

No. The ones he brought were made by his girlfriend’s grandmother. She’s authentic.

So is this restaurant. Let me tell you this. My friends mom started selling her tamales out of the trunk of her car door to door just to feed the kids and then became a legitimate business. These are awesome tamales. You won't be dissapointed.

I don’t have time to explain it right now, but never go bowling while wearing corrective shoes.

Forgive the disorganization. I shouldn't be trying to write this right now :rasta:

Full-ish story and apologies on length:
There was no organization. None. Not for the event and not between our group. Hitting the trailhead started with so much ice on the road that an earlier group were stuck so we decide to turn around and go in an entry around the corner. We'll regroup there and get ourselves in order and hit the trail. There's a bathroom and at this point we've been in the trucks or standing around for over 2 hours and hadn't hit the trail yet so one of the girls and I decide to use our only opportunity for a real bathroom of the day and run in. That's sort of where it went awry. The rest of the group left thinking whatever, that somehow we would catch up (fyi we wouldn't be).

So once we're back in the trucks we hit the trail in the same direction and were told "the trail is a straight path, you can't get lost". We didn't get lost. We hit another split where a bunch are already gathering and hanging out for a few. Radioed to our group asking which way they went? Straight or off to the left? Go straight, got it. (I'm shortening this conversion. It was painful). We follow straight behind another group of guys heading up and see ourselves passing a few obstacles thinking great, we should be catching up soon.
    20210116_103750_HDR.jpg

Where are you guys? We find out we're nowhere near our group and the guy is swearing up and down we went left when he said straight. We didn't. Anyway we make our way up to the top peak and ask another group how to get to where our group is and basically we'd have to backtrack slightly and take a turn but the downside of that is now everyone is coming up when we would be trying to go down and its a one lane trail with very few passing opportunity. Our group says stay there and we'll be up in a few, then we find out they're all stuck behind some asshats blocking the trail. Do we try going down? Do we wait? We're told we could go out one way and then redo the trail, but that was a downhill with slick ice.

So we stick it out and make friends with folks coming and going off the mountain. Fucking Brian. Classic Teddy. Huge bottleneck for a few. This guy went into the deep powder and then popped a bead.
    20210116_130817.jpg
Shared fireball and funny stories with a very friendly guy named Brian who thankfully was not driving.

Finally we decide to part ways, we're tired of waiting and wanted to get down the mountain. We decide to go back the way we came and on the downhill we came across the shit show I posted earlier. We can't get through and everyone's broken down or sitting on the trail. So we back up the hill to weigh our options for a few and now not a single person is left at the peak.

    20210116_145307.jpg
This is me standing in a spot one of the big wheel guys got stuck in.

    20210116_145215.jpg
    20210116_144057.jpg

After a long wait, we realize we don't have any other option than reversing down with everyone in the shit show below and waiting until they recovered everyone back onto the trail. We considered going the icy route but it was only 2 of us and there were some sections where you'd really want a third vehicle if something went wrong. Also, funny enough is our group was stuck in that shit show and never made it up to the peak above.

So why did we get on a different trail than the rest of our group? They took a bypass trail that no one mentioned that was straight up bypassing everything on another part of the trail and we followed the actual trail with a different group to the left...a different left than what we had described:facepalm:
