Damn, so you were sitting in the water for a while? Been considering a 5th gen for family camping/dd instead of my Corolla and I can't take an infant camping in my rock crawler build. Always concerned about the electrical nannies the newer trucks have that can go wrong.

Used some extra material from my floor mats and put it in my center console. Helps things from sliding around and looks clean

Badass! Thanks for your service man. I left hood awhile ago and now I’m in Alaska at Ft Wainwright. About to leave here since it’s been 4 years.

I was in the water total of 10 minutes I’d guess. Pretty fast moving river so it came in as soon as I got stuck. I Spent a weekend and gutted the interior. Had 4 fans and space heaters blowing to dry out and that was nice and quick.. just afterwards I got all these quirks lol.

I love my 5th gen, and have a lot invested in it but those electrical demons are scaring me from doing the same thing again.. and I know I will be doing longer and worse water crossings even just this year. I’d rather have a dedicated trail rig, and keep the daily/trailer hauler operable.

Took Trudy out for my first time auto crossing yesterday, and had a total blast!

Who would have thought an old Tacoma with some nice tires could smoke Lamborghini's, Vette's, Porsche's, Mustangs, Camaros, and even a Miata on the autocross for the very first time in any kind of automotive event?!!

They ended up tossing me in a time only class since I didnt know what to sign up with the old pick up truck, but I would say Trudy and myself did alright for our maiden voyage:

We did a couple "fun runs" afterwards and I was able to knock off a few more seconds a was into the 73.5~ per lap by the end of day. I surely learned a lot and got better at driving my truck in the process.

I think I may have to give this another go, what a blast indeed!!

awesome. I've always wanted to do a rallycross event in one of mine. But they are all too far away. Autocross would be a hoot though.

When's the turbo go in

    Finally did the tundra brakes!
    20210116_220155.jpg

It stops so fast, and I'm actually able to lock up the 33s now. Super happy with it.

One issue I did run into was not listening to instructions and using a flare nut wrench. I completely destroyed my passenger side hard line in the process and had to go to the junkyard to find another one from a 4runner and bend it into shape. O'reilly's fittings on their hard lines somehow didn't fit the new soft lines I got even though the threads look identical. PSA USE A FLARE NUT WRENCH.

Those look BADASS! Glad you had good results with them. Did you source individual parts or buy big break upgrade kit that included everything?

Yeah, individual parts: oem rotors, napa remanned calipers, and oem pads. Also used @turbodb tundra brake upgrade kit that comes with new spindle mounts, soft lines and hard lines that attach to the caliper. Also followed his very straightforward guide!

Put 7000 miles on the 02 in the last 55 days. All but maybe 500 miles in 2 county’s doing nothing but hunting.

Went through one power steering bumper, 1 door handle, 1 exterior mirror, 1 cracked windshield and almost 1 skid plate.

Mitigated some shit but I better not post pictures in this thread.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

It's doable... and I think it'll be well worth it... I just don't think I'd want to do it again.

The formed humps are bearly there. The piece is wider and longer than the space. And literally nothing is cut out at all.

I have very little patience on shit that tedious.
