can you elaborate on the plate that holds the HDMI in place? I have an HDMI on mine run to my center console, but I don’t remember a plate.

If you look t the right (on the backside of the head unit), you can see a single phillips head screw holding the plate in place. Once you remove this, the HDMI plugs in, into the recessed area, and you replace the plate. It holds the HDMI plug into place securely.

Oh, not a pioneer unit. Never mind.

Hey guys, thanks for the write up this is all fantastic. I got mine installed yesterday and let me tell you, things have changed severely since the 2000’s when I installed regularly. Any way, I got it installed using front and rear 4v output to an Alpine amp to infinity components. Everything is 100% hooked up correctly, the amp and speakers were working fine using an inline converter to the Entune prior to the install but now the rear speakers are silent. There isn’t song coming from them. Fader is set to center, rear output is set to rear not sub and I can’t get a single sound out of the rear.

Has anyone else had this problem? This was a non-JBL setup.

It doesn’t have built in gps like the Entune, but the OEM gps navigation is trash anyways. The Apple CarPlay or android auto google map is so much better for navigation. Other than that the pioneer has more features especially when you plug in the OBDII

The maestro unit will maintain all factory settings and steering wheel function.

    Thank you.
Just making sure. So there are no ther vehicle itself settings (idk maybe like tpms sensor reset or something along those lines) that you are missing by ditching the oem unit?

It has tpms reading on the pioneer since its synced with the cluster tpms via maestro. The fuel economy I believe is through the OBDII connector which is optional plu for the pioneer unit. If you choose to plug in the OBDII I believe you get engine air, fuel, engine temp etc..

You'll need to buy a maestro unit to maintain steering wheel controls and access to the OBD.

Alright so I have been installing new speakers and amp (gutted the JBL) this past week and needless to say it was a pain. I ran all new speaker wire. I went with Audiofrog GB15's and Audiofrog 6x9's, JL 10" sub, and a JL 5 channel amp. I am running each speaker on individual channels at 75 RMS like recommended (and the sub at 300 RMS).
I am not getting any sound except for the faintest of noise from my front right tweeter. I set it up in network mode like recommended for a 2 way set up with sub.

I didn't disconnect my old speaker wires going to the headunit, I just added the RCA's from the amp to the headunit- could that be the problem? Not sure how to troubleshoot this one. My ground is to the seat belt bolt and it seems like a pretty good spot, amp is getting power. Any help is appreciated.

Rule out head unit trouble with a headphone to rca converter for your phone?

    Amp turn on lead?

It might be multi meter time.

Head unit was working fine before the gut so hard to believe it’s that.

Amp turn on lead is the remote blue cable right? I have it connected and amps getting power. Gonna go try and re ground it. Also need to look into the settings on the amp more I’m thinking. Urggggh these things used to be so simple lol

Most amps have status indicator LED’s. Do yours?

I set have a similar setup. Same head unit, amps x2 and ran my own speaker wire. I have the speaker leads disconnected on the back of the wiring harness as it HU to RCA to AMP to Speakers.

Yup, just one amp JL xd700 5v2 it lights up green. Got it working and DAMN this set up sounds so much better than the JBL.

Ah cool thank you for the info. I should probably do that even though it’s working fine with them still plugged in now.

I think it was a loose connection somewhere. Either way- I’m pretty impressed by this pioneers network feature and the ability to run an active system so easily. The built in DSP crossovers in the nex unit sound pretty damn good. I am still on the fence if I’m gonna grab a JL twk 88 DSP but I am impressed so far.

edit for anyone curious here’s my setup
    JL Audio Xd700 5v2
    JL Audio PowerWedge CS110TG-TW3
    Audiofrog GB15 Tweeters
Audiofrog 6x9’s (I was on the fence about going with the more expensive GB60’s but after installing these sound so unbelievably good)
Running active in network mode using crossovers directly from NEX 6600

I installed this unit this week. Thanks for all of the tips on getting a flush mount. I do have two issues I've run into that I'm hoping someone can help with:

    1) When I'm using Android Auto and Spotify the steering wheel controls will skip a song when going forward or backward in a playlist. Its almost like unit thinks I'm pressing the button twice. This doesn't appear to happen when just using the steering wheel controls to advance the radio stations.

Edit: I figured this out. It was a firmware issue on the headunit. Updating to 1.30 fixed it.

    2) The tire pressures are not in the correct locations. Compared to the truck HUD its obvious that my left front tire is showing up as right rear on the unit. I've actually called iDatalink about this and they asked me to send in photos of this so their engineering team could take a look. Apparently the TO2 harness doesn't provide the ability to assign the TPMS locations but the TO1 does.

Edit: The "Set Tire Location" option is actually present but it is hidden. When you go into the Maestro settings you have to swipe the screen to find it. Once you start the process you have to back out and go into the car features area of the headunit where you can see you gauges and tire pressure. The instructions will be there. I successfully updated my tire locations last night. Now it matches the what it says on the steering wheel display.

Everything WAS working great. I replaced my battery today and it was out of the truck for and hour or more and things got wonky. Anyone have any ideas on these 3 items?

    1. iPhone no longer auto connects to BT, I have to select it from the iPhone menu to get CP to be an option again. I have tried deleting the connections and forgetting the unit a bunch of times, no dice. It makes me do that thing where it flashes a code on the phone and the unit every time.
    2. Clock is in the wrong time zone. I can prob change that in settings, but I thought this thing ran off GPS?
    3. New firmware out, 1.31. That won't install, I have in the past been able to get these updates to work.

Thinking about restoring factory settings and starting over tomorrow from scratch.

Well bigger problem now. I did the reset settings option and now the unit is in continuous boot loop. I disconnected the battery for an hour and that didn't help. Anyone recover this thing from a boot loop? I think its prob pioneer support time unfortunately.

    Update:
Called pioneer, only option is to get HU pulled and send to CA to get flashed. Buzz kill
