Gotcha! I should be good for the 30th if you want to ride Bailey, Pisgah, or Kanuga! Potentially could camp that Saturday or get off that Friday, gotta check what all I have schedule already

I’ll be there if I can but with a pregnant wife things are a little busy, so don’t plan around me. Just let me know the plan (keep tagging me) and I’ll try to make it!

Thanks to all who voiced their suggestions. Bedrock, Evoc multi frame, and a few other were really at the top of my list. However, price & availability really narrowed my decision, and ultimately went with the Dakine Gripper.

Seems pretty solid, just gotta make sure I protect the paint where I mounted it.

    Killer vert numbers!

Yeah that entire weekend I won't be in town - we are headed on a ski trip from Thursday-Sunday. Bummer - every other weekend I am around

    That is a bummer @honda50r.

So, @SummitBound this is to give you an idea. I have to be at 25 Mills Place at around 10am January 30th to get my machine. I'm unsure what days you were able to ride or if it was just the 30th or 31st as well. Either way you guys know this place better, if you say we would have more fun at Bailey's that Saturday or Kanuga.

I haven't been to Bailey's yet, so I would have to defer to someone who has been to both. I have been to Kanuga a good amount as it is near a buddies house.

From what I understand and have read on Baileys:
    - Shuttle park (yay no peddling)
    - Sell limited tickets each week for that weekend (only open on the weekend)
    - Steeper, but not Windrock steep
    - Blue + trails only
    - Generally Flowy/Jump trails from what I have seen on videos
    - Has been closed somewhat with ice/snow but I believe things were looking better up there
    - Full face required but they do rentals for them
    - Recommend 140+ travel but obviously people have ridden with less. I will be on 135mm travel

    Ride Kanuga:
    - Pedal park (550ish foot climb each time). Climb isn't awful, but out of shape people like me (working on it) will end up walking a bunch in order to do 3+ laps. If I am going to be there for awhile that day, I just pretty much walk the majority so I can actually enjoy the downhills without being dead. That's why I am there, the downhills
    - Has one trail green (still flowy and fun for a "green")
    - Has one jump green (small table tops, a little harder to get up the speed for them from the start point but I know they re-did somewhat recently)
    - Two trail blues (steeper than the green, with flow and berms and the occasional drop)
    - One jump blue (Tortuga) which is super popular. Always will be lines at the top on weekends
    - 2 trail blacks. Hemlock Epoch is fun if you keep your speed to clear all features. Paint it Black has a super gnarly drop, but I believe they built in a chicken route around it). Trail is pretty technical following the drop but then gets faster towards the end
    - 1 trail double black. Have not done, but it has a pretty epic rock roll you can see from the climb trail
    - 1 black jump trail (southeast style). Huge jumps. I suck at jumps (working on it), so I haven't ridden this yet as I hear it is pretty hard to keep speed to clear them all unless you are quite good or ride an ebike
    - They have had a lot of ice melt as of late, so have been closing a large amount of trails

I’m good with Baileys. Since I won’t be there at opening we probably get a lot more “fun” ride time lol

And you don’t have to wait for my out of shape self at the top of climbs hahaha

I’ll shoot them a message and see how conditions are looking

I’ve only been riding a few months when you count injury time, so I’ll probably be slower than you but the beauty of shuttling is I just catch you at the bottom

I’m a rookie, plus first bike park experience.

I saw where it said something about shuttles from 9:30 to 3:30. Kinda lame to end shuttles so early when it doesn’t get dark till 5 now. I'll probably try showing up to the machine shop earlier than expected and just see what they say. Turn me away or get me in and out.

oh and @Bannerman how does Baileys sound?

Watching this guys video, Bailey's looks like a great time.

Thats a solid tour of the city! It's funny though. Looking at the map, I forget how close Santa Monica is from the Hollywood Hills, etc. Felt like DAYS every time I had to drive it. :rofl:I would have guessed that loop to be at least twice as long if you had asked me from memory.

yea, we actually commented on that during the ride. We started, and went down Santa Monica Boulevard, and before we knew it, we were in Beverly Hills. Thought it would have taken a lot longer than that, since it usually takes like 30 min by car. But on the bike with a pandemic, early on Sunday, the proximity actually became apparent.

I mean, its only about 12 miles from Los Feliz to the beach at end of San Vicente Blvd. You forget that when you're part of the traffic in a car...

Went big yesterday and ordered a new Fox 36 and a Fox Dpx2. Got a longer fork and shock. Taking my bike from 150/140 to 160/148. Definitely looking forward to the riding season.

I’ll get one after the install. Only thing left after suspension is brakes then the only thing stock will be the frame.

Moab, St George, Fruita, (and Sun Valley / CB to an extent) trips would be such a waste of money. Trailforks and a call to the local bike shop is all you need since their whole tourist economy is largely based on bikes in the riding months (and 4x4 in Moab). Bring a 6er of beer and I'll take you for a Fruita or STG ride.

I imagine you could have the homies in here do a Brevard breakdown or join you with minimal effort too.

Costa Rica might be a little different. Revelstoke / BC riding in general if in the backcountry would be maybe worth a guide. You can really get in a bind if you go unprepared.
