Replacement tires for the Sport?

That tire reminds of a time LY...I had some folks over - dads and their sons. We were teaching them hatchet (actually tomahawk) throwing and horseback riding and other outdoor things. One of the dads had a lifted 4x4 Ford (good looking truck). I asked everyone that had trucks to park down by our river. Parts are pretty muddy, getting there, but I knew he'd be good. NOPE...he said he didn't want to get his tires dirty. I had a tough time even looking him in the eyes the rest of the weekend!!!!!!!!!!

 

I have the Sport too but take mine off road so I had to run KO2s.. The stock tires were Wranglers and honestly they were perfect for road use and snow use. Considering you only have 33k miles, you can double that with some tire to spare before you need to replace them. Go back to the stock tire imo, I liked them

 

On my current truck, I've run Revo's pretty much consistently. Super quiet, and can handle all the light off-roading I did. With my new truck, I'm going with Toyo AT3's, only because I got a great discount.

 

I was so surprised in their performance on and off road. I really like the look of the KO2 as well. Again my OR consists of river/farm trails, muddy pastures, etc but I NEED 4wd to get around. However since I put 45-50K miles per year (rural highways mostly) I need a comfortable/safe tire (especially rain) on road. I LOVE the look of my son's Duratracs (he has a 2002 TRD OR Tacoma)..his is lifted with an ARB bumper, Warn winch, etc. However he is 90% Off road (farm work)...different needs! EVERYONE told me the Michelin tires were the ones I needed...EVERYONE was right. My main problem - every-time I type the word Micheline...SPELLCHECK reminds me I am an idiot.

 

Last two Tundras came with Michelins. When they wore out I stuck with them. Very good, long lasting street tires.

I was disappointed that the Tacoma came with the much inferior Toyos. Sine this is a street vehicle I’ll be going back to Michelins when they wear out.

I had duratracs and they were not great at all on dry and on wet pavement, scary at times. They were noisy on highways as well. Where they really shined was off road, especially snow. Awesome tire for that, also they look great like you said.

Ko2s are good all around tire, i especially like the sidewall protection, none other AT tire offers such thick lugs on the sides. They do ok in rain, dry and snow, but the best thing is they are silent on hwy for such an aggressive tire. They do great off road though, i am impressed everytime i go out in the bush and i feel like they are very durable.

Toyo AT3 looks great and i think the thread pattern and siping is superior to KO2, but it lacks that nice aggressive sidewall.

My next set will probably be ko2 again. 95% of guys that i went camping with all run ko2s and are really happy.

 

They are studdable but its not a dedicated snow tire. It doesnt even have the 3 peak symbol. Looks like an awesome tire for pavement and light offroading.

 

Lovely mini van tires ... at least the stock Kevlar tires look like truck tires . Boom in your face clown .

Funny you said that...my son (very inexperienced) slid off a small mountain in the rain. He was in 2nd gear (standard transmission) around a very sharp curve. He slid off the road and hit a tree/fence post (I'm still not 100% certain). Just a small dent (which he fixed himself)...but I actually felt good he learned a valuable lesson about off road tires (his are 33"), mountain roads in the rain...no injuries but a hard knock lesson and he was safe.

 

Yeah, we all had those ones.

When i first got a 4x4 truck, i thought i could go anywhere, its 4x4 right? Boy was i wrong... Spent 5-6 hours digging myself out and missed work the next day, haha!

That dude makes me laugh so fucking hard, but not because he's trying to be funny. I'm pretty sure that he only reads the title of threads, nothing else, and then conveys his thoughts on it. And the thread could be 27 pages long or 4 years old. Doesn't matter. He'll jump right in after reading the title and say some wild shit out of left field... Just like "Boom, in your face, clown." as if he's 9... I can't quite get myself to laugh with him, but I sure enjoy laughing at him.

 

I just got a set of these Cooper discoverer 265/65/17 to replace my 5yr old BFG Rugged Terrain with 60k miles which are no longer made in that size, thinking I wouldn’t find something as good for my requirenments and oh boy, was I wrong.

A/T3 4S are great and should suit you just fine, and still allow you a decent amount off road adventures. They are very quite very good on wet slippery surfaces, I’m very happy.
