That's a horrible idea. What time?
If your goping to use it offroad, sliders. Better to have noww and regret it later. And you can get ones that are flat (0 degree I think) that stll gives you a step option. Those are on my list as my wife needs the steps.

Sunday, I was on my way to help a friend tear down his Panhead bobber, while I was sitting at a stop light, I felt a love tap from behind. I got out looked at my bumper, only damage was my cool Tacoma hitch cover, mangled, but it probably saved me from more damage. Then I went back to the car that hit me, she was crying like crazy, so I told her to forget about it, no real harm. Well, no good dead ever goes unpunished, later that day I walked around my truck to look at all the rash on it. Not to bad, a small scrape on the back, and a tiny little chip on the right front wheel flare, which I got the first day I owned it. Then I notice, a split on the bumper top filler, not sure when I got that? Well, I was drooling on some of the photos of front bumpers here, guise it may be time. Of course, right when I need new tires, and was looking at wheels, plus my truck and house insurance is due. When it rains, it's always is followed by the monsoon!

She's a pavement princess (besides the 2-3 weeks a year in and out of hunting camp on FS roads)

I mainly just like the looks of sliders better, steps on a midsize truck just look funny to me. With that said, it's silly you can buy steps for the same price as sliders (if not cheaper).

Im in the same boat as you. I only go offroad a few times and its usually a dirt road or a farm field. But I like the looks of the offroad stuff. I have no need for the heavy duty bumpers or sliders. Kinda wish there was a company that made fake armor. Just like a thinner lighter version of their normal things, I dont need or want a 200lb plate bumper that can hold a winch... but a 50 lb plate bumper with no winch is perfect for me.

I did luck out for my rear bumper with the aluminum "bumper wings". They look like a full plate bumper, but they are just replacements for the stock caps.

I like those a lot. Link?

I purchased the black plastic bumper cheeks to replace the chrome, but it's been too cold to install them. Maybe I'll get these instead if they are still made.

Not sure if they are still made, but be aware they are $600($500 without powdercoating)... I lucked out and got a used set for $150.

https://dissentoffroad.com/ is who makes them, their website doesnt list them, but this thread should have more info
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dissent-offroad-3rd-gen-offerings.584279/

For my front bumper I am planning the victory 4x4 low profile in aluminum, but its $1000 for something thats just going to be a style choice for me.

Yeah for that price I'll be sticking with the black plastic cheeks for now. Haha

Thank you! I will keep an eye on the thread.

There are more options, that's one of the first that popped up. Watch FB marketplace as well. Sometimes they'll pop up there.

I was a bit apprehensive about the stars as well. To be honest, I don’t even notice them. Heavy, solid construction, and they will protect your doors from dings. Paid just shy of $300, I noticed they’re about $30 more now.

Ive got sliders for steps and love them. I get off road but not sketchy... best use is against door dings in grocery store parking lots. Their doors get dinged before they even come close to hitting my doors.

    lots
appreciate all the motivation and beautiful vehicles in this thread. decided to go 4X0 on 92 PZJ75 not quite a Tacoma, or a Tacoma is not quite a Land Cruiser. either way. great looking trucks everyone. will post some pics once paint is finished. in last phases of bodywork now.

should have update Thurday or Saturday. Truck is currently in Amman, Jordan and will go home to US later this sprint/summer. gotta do some photos at historical sites in next few months. truck will be blacked out. rocker panels, bed, headache rack, raised part of hood, bumpers, all liner type material from Standox.

    Inferno coming up.

    UPDATE:

    should be ready by weekend.
