I had issues with my 2015 Ignition lock and thought it was going to be fixed by a automotive locksmith, this has the RFID key so its a big deal. They remove and rebuilt with new pins and springs and other worn parts replaced. Its improved but still the lock is very tight to get the key in and out, difficult to say the least. Anyone else having issues with the Tacoma lock or this is more or less normal?

Never had any problems with mine or seen any lock cylinder problems with any Toyota vehicle. You don't have a ton of keys hanging off your ignition key do you?

Take it back to the locksmith and tell them to fix it.

Is your key bent? I ran into this before with a bent key. A few minutes with a pair of pliers and good as new. If you fear breaking your key take it back to the locksmith.

Never had an issue on my 2015 other than losing the spares which proved quite costly.

Your lock may have issues, but I doubt that it is worn down to need rebuilding in 6 years, unless you just sit and play with the ignition switch for days on end. Usually a worn ignition gets looser and sloppy.

I would take it back to the locksmith.

I am headed back tomorrow Thursday for him to "Look" at it again. He did not sound eager to fix it or whatever it needed. I am more than pi$$ed as he would not make an appointment, just if your driving by stop in. Hell I live 15 miles away.

OE Part around $240 new lock assy with two keys that need to be programmed to the truck at maybe $80 or so then the install and then the re-keying of the rest of the locks to match the new OEM keys. Not cheap.

However I got out my TriFlow and made sure the can was mixed/shaken up well and dumped a LOT into the lock. It must of flushed out some shavings or whatever but its much, much improved. Its now a wait and see thing.
