Standard load ones are almost none existent in that size; most are C load. Compare weights... You might find something in a sweet spot that meets your needs. For example, my 255/70/17 SL Falkens are ~42lbs; the 255/75/17 C K02s are listed at ~46lbs.

    Im running
265/70/17 right now. Not going in smaller in diameter, but might go with a 255/75, because they are slightly taller. But not a 255/70.. too small.

My quest led me to 255/70/17 on my SCS wheels... not very tall but anything taller would have rubbed. I took the air dam out and my front mudflaps off. Here are some pictures - profile and full locked steering both sides.

Yes... Not suggesting you go smaller, just saying that weight-wise the C load options in 255/75 might not be that bad depending on the 265/70 you currently have... used the 255/70 weight as an example.

255/75/17 Cooper Discoverer AT3s are coming in at 39lbs each, if that is of concern at all. I’m waiting for a sale to grab some. Lighter and taller than my 265/65s and your 70s.

Exactly what I'm about to pull the trigger on - 255/75/17 Cooper AT3 4S on a new set of 17x7 TRD pro wheels. Unfortunately, in Canada, the pro wheels are horrifically overpriced, but I can't resist this combo for,

    - getting to 32"
    - landing squarely within the recommend rim range for my tire
    - keeping the wheels "in the family,"
    - reducing offset by 21mm (i.e. from 25mm to 4mm),
    - And best of all - reducing my unsprung weight vs stock (2020 DC Tacoma Sport MT with Toyo A30's).

Extra bonus - I like the skinny look.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been looking hard at. I’m running at4s 265/70/17 on an 8” wheel now. But I got new 8.5” wheels, and wondering how a skinny would look on an 8.5. But, if I can find someone who sells maxxis around here, their 265/70 is only 39 lbs at 31.8” diameter.

For those running 255s is there a reason you would rather have 16 or 17? I’ve got 17s now and really like the look of the tall sidewalls on the 16s but don’t really want to get new wheels. Is there really that much difference?

more tire selection with 17", more sidewall with 16" (which can be good/bad depending on what you focus on)

On-road 17s would theoretically be more stable when cornering due to the smaller sidewalls. The OP stated that taller tires would give more of a contact patch when airing down so 16s might be better in that respect. I run 16s personally but half the reason is cosmetic, I like more tire than wheel.

I am not sure. I haven’t measured them and I’m not sure what the actual brand is. I’ve had the wheels for a long time. They actually came off my old tundra. 8.5 is a good guess.

Like others have said, there is definitely more options with 17. I just happen to have 16s. The Cooper discoverer s/t maxx was the only tire I could find for 16” in that size that wasn’t a full on mudder. And even then it was hard to find anyone that had it in stock. They are back ordered from Cooper at the moment.

Anyone have experience with mastercraft CXT in winter on road driving? They seem to have the most amount of sipping out of all of the 255/85/16 tires

For those with the SPC uppers did you set LCA to max before you took it in for alignment? What are your numbers and how’s it drive. I’m planning on trying for 3.0caster,0camber and .0-(-).03 toe.
