I've never been there but I do a lot of point and camp and I'm sure you'll be able to camp.
"Open a map, find BLM or national forest area drive there, camp anywhere my truck will fit"
It works, you just might not get the prettiest spot.

Is the capability more in the truck or more in the driver????

    Always the driver.

If the truck isn't physically capable of the obstacle, the driver should be able to recognize that.

Spot on. You just have to go with the mindset that there's gonna be people, kind of like visiting a national park.

2WD just needs a little zoom-zoom and strategic wheel turning for big obstacles, 4wd just goes hurr-durr big boulder go squish

You will be fine. Get bigger tires and do some clearancing to make em fit for more comfort room if need be. With my 235s I've hit some good forest trails in my area, and bent some rocker panels in the process. Regardless I made it to the spots for good camping. 31s are a good max point for u if u have the mt and will help alot with trails if u air down low too

You can take it anywhere a car of similar weight and length can go.

Maybe a little more if you are a good driver.

Maybe a little less that a short wheelbase FWD car with a good driver could go.

Made it to Alabama Hills for MLK weekend and found a spot! It was definitely packed like we discussed, but my truck handled well! I fully recommend this spot if you live in CA or are visiting. Cheers!

Yeah! It was sunny all weekend and actually got pretty warm during the peak of the day. Wind hit hard on Monday though and I took that as my cue to head home lol

Actually more true than you think. I would only add parts /modifications as needed . If you keep getting stuck , get bigger tires and air compressor/lockers . If you are sick and tired of the crap ride , get some nice socks. If you have a hard time seeing the trial at night ... get a LED light bar . Scrape up the truck ? Skid plates and sliders .... that way you will love what you add to your truck and not waste any money

you’d be surprised what a stock 5lug truck can do

I take my 5 lug on logging roads all the time. I drive slow, avoid big rocks and know my limits. Havent had any issues.

Pics are Mount Shasta and Death Valley.
