The possibility of a split case, squib, or accidental double charge make me nervous, that's why reloading isn't for me.

I still haven't "grown up" and graduated to accuracy practice. I still like my tacti-cool toys and mag dumps. As much as I do actually try to practice the fundamentals... Yeap.

I wanna be able to trust my ammo so I buy mass production stuff since I'm too ADHD to trust myself or enjoy reloading.

Yeah probably not, but I've always wanted one (Scar fever) and knew I had to have one after shooting one.

Not particularly fond of M1A pattern rifles, just not modern enough for me I suppose. Though I did consider a scout for a little while or even an EMR chassis I'm not crazy about Springfield and their practices.

And I just don't like the AR platform, probably just cause everyone has one and I wanna be different, or I just feel like it's not as good... I dunno, haven't been able to put a particular finger on why I don't like ARs.

I guess I just want a modern gas piston rifle I feel like I can trust.

Meh, everything I load for it's impossible to double charge with the powder I use. There's not enough case capacity for it. And I will confess, I do try that sometimes if I get distracted and forget to move the funnel to the next case after I dump a charge. It gets messy from there since I have to get the case and the funnel up to the powder hopper to dump the powder back in without lifting the funnel off the case and spilling powder everywhere.

With my 6.5 CM with the heavier 130-140gr bullets seated .020" of the rifling, the higher pressure loads are damn near compression loads. I can just barely hear the powder moving around the shoulder area when I shake them next to my ear. The 107-123gr bullets leave a bit more case capacity. The .223 rounds are more forgiving since the heaviest bullet I'll load is a 69gr, which is the heaviest that will fit in the mag. If I wanted to single feed the rounds by hand, I'd get a bolt action, haha. Anyway, the rifle doesn't like 69gr bullets that I can tell. I think it's because with the 18" barrel I'm not getting enough muzzle velocity for them to stabilize even though the 1:8 twist barrel should support them. I've basically narrowed it down to using 60gr Sierra Ballistic tipped Matchkings for 100 yards and out and 55gr Sierra Blitzkings for under 100 yards (and home defense since they are hunting bullets made to expand "explosively" after impact).

On the other hand, it's easy enough to take a flash light and check to see all the cases in the loading block have a powder charge before seating a bullet in them. Split cases necks are easy enough to check for after sizing (and it will be really apparent if you seat a bullet in a split case mouth) and if you anneal before every fourth or fifth loading, it shouldn't be much of an issue. And who doesn't like using a burns-o-matic and power drill at the same time?

There's always the Ruger Mini 30. Although it is based on the M1 Garande action so it's not exactly cutting edge, nor is it as customizable. It would probably survive any bans though.

I wonder if they are offering the SCAR in 6.5 CM? I would imagine FN is in the process of making them in that caliber for the US Military as we speak.

What we are seeing now is why I leaned more towards buying ammo and paying for training instead of buying new guns for the past few years (aside from the C308 and 308 bolt gun, but I bought a case of 7.62x51 M80 when I bought those). I'm good on 5.56, 9mm, and I've got enough 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R to last pretty much through the siege of Stalingrad. :infantry:

I've got a couple of Mosin Nagants (one a 1939 vintage, the other a 1944). They are great for pot shots 2000 meters away. Or if you need to bayonet someone on the other side of a river.

I cut an M44 (back when they only cost $79) down to 16.5". People at the range don't like me.

I really should get an M44 just cause *Boog? Grab nugget go innawoods* memes.

Running a bolt gun fast is fun as hell especially when you got not bad feelings about beating the ever loving frigg out of it.

Shot a mosin a good couple times, I like the positive recoil, got pretty good with the pitted and shot out barrel.

Used to be able to get them for $200 for a decent one, they're close to $500 for an okay one now.

When it needs to be shot, blinded, deafened and set on fire all at the same time.

The revolver? Really? That cylinder gap looks MASSIVE.

Figured you'd get plenty of sound leak there.

But Google may have also failed me.

I wasn't a big fan of PC gaming until a friend turned me on to Escape From Tarkov. The mechanics/ballistics are incredible with ammo selection being more important than the gun you choose to run (there are 10 variants of 5.56x45, 11 variants of 5.45x39, and 6 variants of 7.62x54R, not to mention 9mm, 7.62x51, etc, etc, etc). The Oberez is a favorite as both a meme gun and for mid range combat. They've recently added the .300 Blackout and .338 Lapua Magnum (aka Satan incarnate).
