What? Not sunny and warm in ol Minnesota eh? (In my best Scandinavian accent):D

I don’t envy the bitter cold the northerners have this time of year. Once I left, just had a hard time going back.

Could recall once driving in ma. back in the day with my 1978 toyota wolverine 4x4 pickup. I had the KC lights uncovered on the top of my roll bar...got stopped and given a warning by a state cop.

I have no idea what the law is in any state relating to rear facing lights on a vehicle. I wouldn't think the lights eould need to be covered, or illegal to mount on the rear of a truck. I say this because I see plenty of commercial trucks with rear work lights.

Having the rear lights on while driving probably isn't a good idea.

I see plenty of idiots running flood and spot light bars in the rain, and fog. Some people are plain stupid.

It really depends on where you live. Here in Alberta, Canada the RCMP and Sheriffs like to give tickets for uncovered light bars and pods from what I've heard.

Yep. I've always lived in Calgary without issues. My brother has lived in Airdrie, Strathmore and now Langdon and it seems the mentality amongst RCMP is the same. Pretty sad when you consider the amount of rural crime they could focus on.

I run LED work lights on the back of my work truck and on the rear bumper of my Silverado (makes hooking-up or loading a trailer in the dark way easier) however I keep them aimed off to the side and down so if they get left on they’re not aimed at the guy behind me.

Like someone else said, don’t be the low-hanging fruit.

Virginia is just a shitty state when it comes to driving. I've lived here for 15 years so I've become desensitized to it but it sucks.

Only once have I gotten hassled about my lights (in Texas), but it was because I was already getting a $75 ticket from a game warden for a low hanging fruit situation. Parked just off the shoulder of a road to camp in the Sam Houston forest, but the area I was camped in was "no off-road vehicles allowed." Because my truck was technically not on the road it was an easy score on a technicality. During that transaction the warden played the old card "I could ticket you on your lights too, but I'll be a nice guy since you're being so polite about it."

As for the rear mounted light bar, I wouldn't. Not because about potential legalities or anything, I just think that a work light shining in my face would be counterproductive to what I want to achieve. Bedlights that shine from tailgate towards the front are magical for futzing around in the bed.

I've never had issues with CPS. I've have front tinted windows and usually travel 8kph over the speed limit and have passed numerous CPS vehicles as such. They will usually have a glance at me and do no nothing. Most of the issues people have with police is self created.

Yes. It was a money maker for them. They got $250 times 20 or 30. If the ticket was for drinking I could fight it, but it was for disorderly conduct. Attending an underage drinking party.

Sometimes it does but it's not frequent. I went there but I was already making changes in that area of my life so while the course was forced, the general idea wasn't if that makes sense. It is the same thing I see at meetings, while some who are ordered (legally or otherwise) do eventually get something good from it there are many who don't.

I've had a few cops thank me for this as an adult. Was stopped at a checkpoint on Black Friday 4 years ago and they seemed relieved when they said checking for drunk drivers and I said "well you found sober men here..I'm driving him (my bro in law) home and then myself". I've also DD'd for quite a few events such as my bachelor party.

That's this state for you, nuff said...been here all my life

So you were at the party or in a vehicle? This is where I missed you I think
