I agree, I can’t see myself in a $500k car, but I can see myself driving a fully restored or resto-mod classic car! I would really like and Ariel Atom or Nomad though, I think that would be my ‘irresponsible’ car purchase.

Does anyone else get annoyed when businesses don't stay open until their posted hours?
I am not talking about walking into a restaurant for an hour dining experience, 5 minutes before close. I've had two frustrating experiences lately.
I stopped by the tire shop last night 15 min before close to simply pickup my wheels and tires that were ready. No one home.
A few weeks ago, i stopped at Advance Auto Parts to drop off some used oil. Same situation about 15 min before close. I walked up and could see lights on, customer at the counter, employees behind the counter. Door was locked. i knocked and the employee at the counter looked at me and then looked back down and continued standing at the counter. I was a little annoyed that she simply ignored me. A customer walked out of the store and i walked in. At the point, she dropped what she was doing and yelled, "what are you doing? the door was locked, you're trespassing." I said, "dropping off used oil, your still open til 7." her rebuttal. "The door was locked and i am saying we are closed now." (keep in mind, i was there earlier in the day and specifically asked how late they were open so i could drop off). At this point i walked out, turned around and took a picture of her giving me the finger while on the phone with her boss, cops whatever she was threatening. I also framed the picture through the front door to include the posted hours of business and the convenient iphone time stamp of 6:50pm.
i sent that to Advance Auto Parts customer complaints and got nothing but the automated "thanks for your submission" email.
Maybe it's just me but posted hours of business should be your hours of business. Not when then employee feels like they can leave and lock the door.

I mean in my own douche-baggy I think I'm hilarious but the recipient probably thinks I'm a dick kind of way. Yes.

I'd be in that same book. Powerball winnings? No million dollar exotics for me, but I'd have a big barn full of immaculate old 4x4's.

Pricy, yea. But with a jackpot approaching almost 1b, this is chump change for a lotto winner.

If I won, this thing would be on my list.

Jiffy Lube is usually awesome with waste oil. They burn waste oil all winter and will let you dump anything into their tanks.

Another reason I like older Toyota's. In general if maintained (besides fucking rust) they'll just work. I like not have having a car payment. Saved up and bought the wifes 5th gen T4R cash in 2013. My last car payments were on my 1st gen taco, and they were like $80/ month. Paid cash for my FJ, and obviously the Landcruiser. I don't need fancy new tech, it's nice sure but I like being able to mod willy-nilly or just perform major maintenance (either myself or pay to have it done) and not really have to worry about cost. Plus factor in daycare/ before & after care costs for the giblets, mortgage etc... and i'd rather have the extra money each month vs. a nicer vehicle. I have some buddies who are in the same field as me and driving brandy new 1500 trucks all spec'd out and their wives in brand new SUV's. They're dropping close to $1k/ month on car payments. Could they or me afford it..sure. But damn that's a lot of money in my cheap ass pockets.

one of the guys that my husband works with makes relatively the same money as him, but his wife doesn't work. they have 3 kids, but they just leased a new truck and full size suv, rolled a bunch of negative equity, took out a heloc to redo the kitchen, live outside of boston so that's automatically way more expensive than where we live. we don't know how they do it. when i got furloughed for a month in may it sucked, but we live so far below our means that it didn't affect us.

In the last 8 years at my job I had a Silverado I kept for 180k and now have 190k on my Tacoma. In the same 4 years I have l watched co workers go through 2-3 brand new trucks. They have paid more in sales tax than I have paid for my Tacoma.

We bought the wife’s Odyssey new 2 years ago but will keep that for 200k and I wanted the kid hauler to have all the latest safety crap.

I don't understand it either. I wish I could move to somewhere with a much lower cost of living, but those places don't have the yobs, and the Mrs. would never move since she likes her job, and it pays pretty damn well.

I was seriously shopping new jobs earlier this year just due to the amount of time my commute was taking me every day. Had one I could have taken that was in Framingham, so just 15-20 minutes away and like 5 minutes from my wifes office in Framingham. Fortunately we're going to flex schedule after this nonsense dies down so I'll work 3 days home, 2 in the office. Tell your better half to hold out for remote work or some kind of flex schedule.
