Not good news. I have the MESO rings as well. According to USPS, my button hasn't actually shipped. @FreshMexicanTaco do you want to hold off on shipping mine until you sort this out?

Just installed my Matte Red TRD. Looks great! The factory button was a bit of a bitch to pull out, but once I got it, it was simple. Thanks @FreshMexicanTaco

Curious to those who have installed these aluminum buttons do your FOBs still work with the battery removed?

The FOB is designed with magnetic coils to send an electromagnetic encoded signal through the button to the electronics to disengage the anti-theft engine immobilizer and to start the truck.

Wonder if the aluminum button shields the electromagnetic signal going from the FOB through the button to the internal electronics?

If the aluminum does shield the signal then the owner is out of luck if ever a dead battery occurs in the FOB. No way to start the truck.

I have a Fob battery in my center console for that reason. I didn't even know about the coil science. I thought I would be SOL either way.

Radio signals are by definition electromagnetic signals. And don't worry the signal works fine with the aluminum button as well, even with a completely dead battery. We've since tested this and there is no adverse effects on FOB communication.

The remote will work even without a battery in it. You just need it to be close to the button.

We tested with the meso chrome delete, the button worked fine in our test, obviously something is going on with yours @Notcris so lets try to figure that out. One thing we have had happen during our pprototyping is that when removing the OEM button, a piece (one of the clips) may brake off inside and cause the button to stick. That might be the issue and if so, you can try to remove the button and take a look inside to see if there is any debris, and try to pull it out.

That’s good to know that the aluminum button has been tested with the battery removed from the FOB and the truck will still start.

    Thanks for the update!

It’s a great feature that the dealer didn’t explain to me and had to figure it out on my own.

Now I keep a FOB in a waterproof wrapping and taped to the underside of the frame of my truck for emergencies.

Doesn’t matter if the FOB battery goes dead the FOB can still start the truck.

    Very good feature.

Wouldn't having a fob in that location allow anyone to just walk up to your truck, open the door, start the truck, and drive away?

Not if theres no battery in it, but if there is... I think you could just open the door, unless its far enough away, if its by the tailgate you might be able to get away with it.

Didn't think of that, I was assuming it had a battery in it. Also just remembered there is a button combo that will disable the fob. IIRC, press and hold lock, then press unlock twice. I use this when I'm out camping. Back of the truck is the sleeping area, and that way no one can sneak up and get in the cab and/or drive away with us in the back of the truck.

No. Not close enough and not direct enough. I tested it over and over. It’s located at the back of my truck under frame.

The FOB needs to be about 2.5 feet from the door. Very short range.

EDITED TO ADD: I do have a battery in the spare FOB on the frame of my truck.

Too many to list. I’m lazy
Soo I’m just gonna ask. Any chance you would make a anodized blue one? To match my kings and blue Ray 10’s

I know I’m petty like that

I will ask to see how much a single button would be to anodize. I'll let you know.
