JL 1000/1 under rear seat

Has anyone managed to fit this amp under here? I need 1 more inch :/

 

What if I cut this metal? Looks like it's double layered here. My amp would slide right down perfect.

BTW this is the compartment under the rear seat without the plastic in place.

 

Just wondering if you should be thinking of the cooling efficiency of the amp. It seems that the amp would be in a pretty confined spot and wouldn't be able to vent off heat well enough.

 

It'll be fine. It'll be bolted to metal on all sides and it's actually pretty open under there. The guy I bought the amp from had it enclosed in an mdf box with another jl amp and only a 1.5 inch hole for air with no fans running a jl 13w7 and it never overheated.

 

If by cutting that piece of metal it would make it fit then go ahead and do it but if you ever plan on taking the amp out and selling the truck that might affect the value of the truck. Just a thought

Oh ok I understand then yeah go for it! Just be sure it fits before you bust out the Saw-All and don't get too carried away lol

 

.....or you could sell that amp and buy a PDX1000.1 or an HD750/1 and make your life a hell of a lot easier.

 

I cut it. If looks perfect and I can even keep my jack in it's original spot.

 

Some guy on here, not sure who, did an amazing install with two Orions in the location you put yours with cooling fans and all. Maybe IS remembers the guys name or has the thread bookmarked.

 

I was able to fit a 300/4 under the passenger seat, but that 1000/1 is way too big. Nice job on the install of the amps! Now you just have to make a trip for it so that it has a finished look.

 

Looks good brother. I have just about the same set up. I put a fan on either side on the front corners of the storage box. Keep the pics coming. Great work

Funny, I found a set of IDQ 12's on craigslist right down the road that I'm going to possibly pick up today.

 

Hmm, I thought you said you had IDQs but I just saw a pic with JL subs...

 

wow that looks good just make a 1/4 inch baffle board to cover everything and carpet it and use some screws or velcrow to hold it down and your done they fit perfect.

 

this is a great looking install. X100 on the trim piece to make it look neat.

 

surrounding the tops of the amps you mean? I'll probably have to put fans if I do that. I'll pick some up today and test it out once I get it all finished.
