I don’t believe Honda to really be vested in the Truck market. I mean they have been pretty much pumping out the same truck every year since they started the Ridgeline. It is in my humble opinion, a butt ugly truck. Call it a truck might be speaking a little bit highly of it. But that all said I understand it them be very reliable transportation.

It is probably good for Toyota that Honda it’s not committed to building an actual pick up truck.

I used to think that until one of my riding buddies bought one three or four years ago. It hauls two dual-sport MC’s and enough gear for a long weekend just fine. The in-bed trunk thing is a great feature and saves having to put filthy riding gear and tools in the rear seat area.

If Honda built it with a true 4wd system and increased the tow rating, I probably would have bought one.

Interesting fact, the Ford Ranger sales are increasing from 19-20 while the Tacoma sales didn’t. I find it kinda funny how many of you are chiding Jeep about quality when this forum is full of complaints. Automatic transmission shifting and lack of cooler. Lack of low end torque, Frame rust, etc. the Tacoma is a good midsize truck with excellent resale. It’s made in Mexico now which is a step down from Japan. If the Tacoma didn’t have a manual transmission I’d own a Ranger or GM diesel. The cab while handsome is about 3 inches to short. I can’t imagine anybody over six feet tall owning one. I just wanna tell the truth here.

My neighbor just bought a new Ranger. I don't talk to him now.

Come to think of it though, I wasn't really talking to him before either.

I don’t plan on selling. I just put on my topper and have it pretty much how I want. I have a wife, 2 kid’s& dog. Kinda cramped but a full size doesn’t fit the garage. I had a 98 Ranger 4.0 club cab I bought new.
I liked it as much as the Tacoma I have now.

Yep! That’s what happens when you try to re-engineer perfection.

“I installed a genesis dual battery kit about 2 years ago, and since then its been slowly ripping apart my engine bay”

Can’t blame TOYOTA for that. A vehicle is at its most reliable form if left as it was as when it left the factory.

To be fair, isn't this iteration of the Ranger the same one thats been overseas for like 10+ years?

So they say, but should that be the case, I'm sure all the same old problems are still the same also. Not that we don't have some in the Tacoma, it's just that they seem fewer and less annoying.

To be fair, every automotive forum I've ever belonged to has been full of complaints about that particular vehicle. Most of the valid complaints I see here about the Taco are actually pretty mild and don't seem to effect everyone who buys a Taco. Frequent any RV and most Sports Car forums and you'll likely hear about real problems!
