Led Plate lights blowing fuse

    All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, j hooked waste gate
    For an LED light to be blowing a 10a fuse you have to have a direct short somehow. Is it just 1 of the bulbs that is blowing the fuse? I know leds are polarity specific but I’ve only seen them not work if they’re installed backward- not blow a fuse.

    Im no expert but it is what it is. with these installed it blows fuse. I replace the regular bulbs and put in a new fuse- no issues. Put the leds back in and blows the fuse. I have seen a few people talk about flipping them around but I really don't see this fixing the issue.

    I had the exact same problem with my LED fogs. One of the bulbs kept blowing the fuse the moment it was turned on. I just bought another identical bulb and the problem was gone. You likely have a defective bulb.

    X2. I had a pair of LED brake/tail lights that smoked as soon as they were installed. Changed back to the original incandescents and all was well. Diagnosis - defective bulbs......

    If you could narrow it down to just one of the 2 bulbs then you’d know that it’s a defective bulb. I don’t recall what the base looks like on those but if they can be flipped around then it might be worth trying that.

    IMG_4271.jpg Another option if your bulb issue isn't resolved - I replaced my one license plate light with a LED unit that is insanely bright. The light on the other side was replaced with a tow harness plug.

    I appreciate the help fellas. May go flip them around and see if I can get em to work. I think I have one or two more fuses on hand so maybe one or 2 more tries haha. I'll update here in a bit.

    I'm also going to also suggest that you have a bad bulb. If that's the case, all you're going to do is keep blowing fuses. Can you get another LED bulb?

    I like those. I put LED's in place in my housings but every few months they start to flicker and I have to replace them. Got a linkie or website?

    I got mine from Amazon. They're about $12-$15 for the pair. I've had them almost 2 years without any issues.
