Santa was really good to me this year with a

$221 Viair 400p - 40043 Portable Compressor Kit. Tire Pump, Truck/SUV Tire Inflator, For Up to 35" Tires

Viair 400p auto. Looks like I’ll be taking a go at this. Looking forward to moving on from the tiny craftsman pump I have been using for the past two years, woo! Time to throw that thing in the wifes Outback.

 

Tractor supply co by me had the air hose and fittings, which was nice because I just happened to have a gift card laying around. Ordered everything else from Amazon.

Looking forward to receiving everything else and learning how to make those sweet wire hose clamps.

 

Just follow the instructions that come with the ClampTite the first couple times. After that, you'll remember.

 

Finally got around to putting everything together. Swapped a connection on the compressor and another on the air gun to make everything work for me. Made a six foot lead to the pump. I made my inflator/deflator with a 8 foot lead and the leads to the chucks were kept at 6 feet. Also picked up a case at Harbor Freight to keep everything safe and sound. My clamptite connections are not as pretty as everyone else’s but damn that thing is a sweet little tool. And I definitely got better at it after a couple tries.

I still need to pickup another set of air fittings to be completely done (regulator is missing one because I ran out) but cant wait to use this thing. Thanks for putting this thread together @Shellshock and for your clamptite contribution @tonered !

 

Is that the 400p compressor? If so I need a case that size.

 

Yessir, 400p auto. The case fit everything just perfectly. It is snug, but I think that makes it better in the end so everything isn't rattling around.

Was hoping this case would fit in the cubby behind the backseat of my '17, but just measured and not so much.

 

Unfortunately its a bit too large to fit back there. I have it behind my drivers seat under a bag of recovery gear and next to my tire plug kit. Perfect spot for all that for now, until my son grows.

 

If you take out the cubbies, it’ll fit

 

Everything will fit if you try hard enough.

 

Just wanted to thank the OP for listing out parts. I chose to use crimp rings instead of the wires, since I have the tool/plier for it. Tested and works great, I also happen to find the 400p auto for $230 so I went ahead and purchased. I keep everything in a Plano Sportsman Trunk/Chest that stays in truck bed for most of the time, covered with a tonneau cover. The whole hose assembly fits in the bag that the 400p comes in and the bag fits in the chest.

 

Might just have to look into that, and how much work it will be.

 

It’s 3 screws and they pull out. Super easy. There’s a lot of places that make molle panels and other things you can put there instead of the bins
