Can we get back to it “blowing smoke, no power” etc? Having an extra quart of oil isn’t going to instantly create this problem.

I think that issue has to do with what ever problems the PO306 has been triggered by

Yeah the sudden reaction to added oil was weird to me. The old oil was pretty bad looking coming out when we drained it later (only about 10k miles on the oil though), so I don't know if adding new oil would make it break.

To try to recap a little more clearly, the total lack of power where I could barely move it started only after I drained a quart of transmission fluid inadvertently in an attempt to drain some oil. It was idling at high RPMs, so the extra smoke probably wasn't unusual for it and might have just been more from the high RPMs. I warm it up in my 1 car garage where it can circle around.

Today after we added new transmission fluid back in and topped off the power steering fluid which was low, it's pretty close to full power except for the cylinder 6 issue I guess that is holding it back, with the shaking in any gear except park, and a little more on acceleration.

A flashing check engine light typically indicates excessive misfiring.
To which it may cause further problems if you continue to drive the vehicle.

1 of a few would be catalytic system damage.

Excessive amounts of unburnt fuel can cause smoke.

The check engine light was actually only flashing when I went uphill. I won't drive it again except to the mechanic, a couple miles away, downhill then flat. Sound reasonable?

    Sounds reasonable to me.
I’d likely do the same if the distance was fairly short.

If you drained the transmission pan, I would suggest adding 2 quarts of transmission fluid, and then let the truck warm up and check the dip stick. Add more as needed. Draining the pan usually takes out about 4 quarts. Good luck with fixing your truck.

Overfilled crankcases don't usually cause heavy misfiring issues as you are indicating unless they are EXTREMELY overfilled, that of which the overfilled crankcases with that issue will usually be accompanied with heavy smoking due to its overfilled nature.

FYI- power steering takes transmission fluid.

It seems the lack of power might have very low transmission fluid and the PO306

OP please let us know the end results.

    UPDATE -

Just needed a new coil! They replaced the spark plugs and wires too, which I don't know was necessary but whatever.

Now that it drives better than ever, I want to have a body shop repaint my camper shell. Can they redo the clear coat somehow, pic attached? Or are they going to have to yank the shell off, sand it down, paint match, and redo it all?
Edit: I have a custom rack bolted into the front and back ends of the camper, which maybe they could work around instead of trying to remove?

ive seen some people just redo clear on their own, but it will probably start flaking again elsewhere. i dont think think ive seen a body shop only do this before. they usually just repaint the whole panel.

I will for sure. I have a tentative plan laid out now to address the clear coat issue. I think this is something where I'm only going to share after I've done it all.

And yeah, it seems that body shops will only redo the whole panel, to make sure it looks good and to be able to make real money.

yeah, at least from what i know thats the case. now maybe if you had a painter/prep buddy, he might be willing to do it. mine started flaking a while back and i just left it alone, but now my hood and fenders are starting to head down that path so soon i might just take the whole truck in and address those areas and get a fresh start.
