Keystone State Thread

Hubs with 1/2 inch longer studs. What is the advantage? More thread contact? When is it necessary? I'd like to go 35s and 17s but not sure when it'll be in the budget. Hate to out new hubs in and need something else. 1/2 inch extended or OEM

 

Aluminum wheels tend to be a bit thicker than the stock alloys and longer studs mean you don't need to use extended shank lugs. Ofc it's possible to have too long of studs if you're still running stock alloys or steels unless you have pass through lugs.

Thanks Adam. I was thinking it could be an issue. I though the extended lugs were only about 1/4" more thread. OEM got me this far. Maybe I should just stick with that length stud. I'd also like to run the same lugs on all 4.

I have a feeling that's they way it'll be. Probably be a few of the guys I work with more then the job not all of them but there's always those few

 

We trim and cut for power lines and our big thing is ash trees. I couldn't even tell you how many of those we've taken along with the leaners towards the line. The power company budgets in money for just ash and they were even getting some government money to cut down dead ash.

 

Have you done any work in Franklin county recently?

Ok, I was thinking we may have met this summer, but must have been another crew. I opened the gate to our hunting property so the guys could get their equipment to the right of way on powerline that runs through our land. They had this big beefcake of a brushhog that sounded like a warzone when they were running it!

 

I was with a mowing crew for a little while when I was with Asplundh. We had a brush hogs and a skid loader that had drum head with carbide teeth, that thing would eat up small trees and was a blast to run.

The other reason to use extended studs if if you're using a thin (1/4 or 1/2) plate style spacer that doesn't have its own lugs.
