I’ve been searching around a bit for the answer to this question for a little while now but no luck. I’ve been thinking about buying switchback LED bulbs for my stock fog lights but don’t know how they would work in that reflector. I really don’t want to bother oncoming traffic after these get put in. the bulbs I’ve been looking at aren’t too cheap ($100) but are a good in between until I can fork over the money to do it right and buy some diode dynamics SS3.

I got led bulbs in the stock fogs and they work just fine no issues.

SS3 sports are like $180 during sales. $200 when not on sale. Seems like a waste to spend $100 on bulbs you're gonna trash soon anyways.

If you want something that looks cool, get some lamin x film to put over your current fogs. Its like $15 and you can choose between yellow and amber.

I just changed my lights to LEDs from stock, including fogs. No complaints from me. Definitely bright in the reflector housing!

What bulbs did you use for the fogs? I'm waiting for hikari h11 to come back on stock for the low beams

I replaced my OEM fogs with LEDs...they were great for me driving back roads but far to bright I found in the OEM housings that aren't designed for led reflection.

The correct way to run an LED fog is replacing the entire fog light assembly with an SAE approved assembly. You will get far more usable light and have less glare to oncoming drivers.

Hold out for the SS3s, they are worth it! You're already half way there spending money on LED bulbs, just to replace later.

Yeah this is what I was thinking too but I was figuring by getting the switchback bulbs I would be able to make the choice between white and amber more easily when I do eventually upgrade to the SS3 plus the switchbacks would just move into the headlights since it says it works with low and high beams as well. Then of course I just wouldn’t be using the yellow feature of the bulbs anymore. but at least I would still get to repurpose them

    Save your money.
This is literally the only correct answer. Anything else is wasting money for the sake of wasting money. If you want a better bulb, get a performance halogen. I run Hella XYs in mine when I run my OEM fogs in the winter and they're great with absolutely none of the drawbacks of an LED bulb in a reflector housing.

If you must have LED fogs, try and source a set of OEM Toyota units. They can be found in many different models and at least have OEM quality engineering behind them.

I got the Auxbeam F16 H11s. They fit into the low, hi, and fog assemblies.

I just replaced the oem halogen fogs in my 2020 TRD OR with these same oem led fogs. I ordered through Amazon too. Super easy install, only took 5 minutes. Direct plug and play, no running wires, etc..

No need to remove the fender liner. You can reach down with the hood popped and unclip the light harness and there’s only 1 screw to remove for each fog.

Huge improvement in both visibility and aesthetics.

How is the beam spread on these?
I use fogs more as turning lights/poor mans ditch lights... so I care more about very very wide beam width vs light intensity forward.

@crashnburn80 has somewhat discussed the beam width, but I haven't seen a careful examination of that like he does for so so so many other parameters.

    Agree with these replies.

Will add that the OEM Toyota units are available with a black bezel. Slightly better appearance for the anti-chromers.

Ran those for a while. Easy install, legit OEM units, look and perform great with the proper fog beam pattern. Recently went to DD SS3's in selective yellow and finding that color works better for me in foul weather.
