Very cool video, but I wonder why it's listed as age restricted.

Exactly! Some of those puddles are deeper than they look!

I would be so freaked out if I had water coming into the truck! Heck, I was freaked out when I was in a boat with water inside of it!

Oh there will be some mods all right
Funny random story, my great-grandpa grew up using everything till it was 100% done for and then fixing it and using it a little more. One day I took his rowboat out to go fishing. I noticed that it had tar over all the rivets so I kind of figured it leaked a little. Well half an hour into fishing I noticed my shoes were getting wet. Laughed and said oh well and kept going. Another half hour later my feet were soaked and I dropped a bluegill in the boat and it swam away from me... In the boat. It was at that point I decided I might as well just stand in the water by shore

Haha! That generation never threw anything away!

My situation involved a series of bad circumstances, bad decisions, and the coast guard having to rescue us.

I had a minor incident with a ‘58 mahogany Chris Craft I once owned. I was out with a friend and he asked if there should be any water in the back. I told him that these old boats do leak a bit. He told me to look back... yup, almost a foot of water back there! I hit full throttle to get it home fast and I was on full plane 20 feet from the boat hoist! He thought we were going to go right through the pier, but I chopped power at just the right time (luckily) and it mushed right onto the hoist. It turns out the was a rotted plank that broke off leaving a hole 5 inches by about a foot long on the bottom. That was a bit exciting!

Mine ah, wasn't quite that deep (but it would have been if I hadn't been rescued by a 1st gen)

    But it was much muddier

A few year ago, while visiting my Mom and her boyfriend in Florida, I got into a bit of trouble on Pine Island sound.

I was determined to get out to a hole I had found on Navionics and try to catch a shark or stingray. Brilliantly, I picked a day with southwest wind at 20 MPH. My Mom came along, too.

The boat I had access to was (is) a 20'-ish center console fishing boat. It was in need of work. It would stall regularly. The ignition switch was corroded and wouldn't start it sometimes. The trim didn't work. And, the bilge pump worked by clipping an alligator clip onto the battery terminal. Sooo, not a great rig for rough seas.

We had good sized waves coming into the canals, and I still thought it was worth chancing it. I was following a route planned by Navionics, after all. As soon as we got into the open, it was white-caps everywhere.

After a few minutes heading into the wind, with waves nearly coming over the bow, I came to my senses and turned back towards the canal. That's when I really screwed up.

I hadn't gone back to the marked channel because I wasn't thinking. Instead, I made a beeline for the canal. The waves were higher than the stern, so I kept pace with them to keep them from coming over and sinking us. Then we hit a sandbar. We stalled, and I couldn't trim up or restart the motor. Within a few seconds we were standing in ankle deep water, in the boat.

We were stuck, and the waves kept filling the boat. The lucky part is that we were being pushed toward a mangrove shoreline. We called for help, and worked on tying things down so they wouldn't float away. Once we hit shore, we threw the anchor into the mangroves and wrapped the line around a branch.

The Coast Guard said we couldn't bring anything with, so all of my fishing gear stayed in the boat until we recovered it 2 days later.

The recovery was pretty smooth! We rented a boat, and loaded it with tools, batteries, and a bilge pump we rigged up. We went at low tide and pumped the water out as the tide was coming in. Once the boat was floating, we walked it out from shore and tied it behind the rental.

We got it home and in the lift, and it's still alive with a new motor. Here's a picture of how we found it when we went back, and back home before we started cleaning it up.

TL, DR: I made a few bad decisions and sank a boat in 2' of water.

Sweet truck, but they're easily $17k over a decent collectors price lol.

Then again, some nutsack will end up buying it and parking it in his garage
