Actually, the sprayer makes it pretty easy. I remove the tip that makes it a "sprayer" as I don't want to actually spray the fluid.
The sprayer tank is pressurized sufficiently with 4 or 5 pumps and you just hold down the trigger to pump fluid back in to the tranny.
I also don't try to keep up with the transmission pump pumping fluid out. I just let it pump out a couple quarts and then pump the same amount back in.

The whole process takes maybe 1/2 hour. I'm sure it's quicker with a machine but it's not a big deal really. I've done it twice now on the Tacoma and used the same procedure to do it on 3 other vehicles.
    No ill results so far.

I actually thought the same at first and tried it :D. Unfortunately, it's not a "closed" system per se, and no vacuum is created.

I'm not a parts guy so I don't have access to a generic system. I can look if you post your VIN number though

Yes. I try to intentionally put slightly more in (like a quarter quart (16th?))
Then I use the temp check mode outlined in the thread I quoted.

I may have once accidentally turned the motor off with the overfill plug removed, but I try not to talk about that.

I assume you work for toyota? That would make sense why you were tagged.

After being persistent and convincing the parts person at Groove to lookup a TSB for a tundra for this baffle, she was able to find it. Funny thing is that TSB called it a "rear differential axle housing oil baffle" and after she looked it up using the TSB, she called it a "deflector"

General part number without providing my VIN is - Differential Drive Pinion Oil Deflector (Rear) Part Number: 4213935021

Thanks for the willingness to help!

I'm at Groove. I also had no clue we had a woman working the retail counter in parts so you might be dealing with someone very fresh. I'm not a parts monkey so I have to access that info through vehicle inquiry in TIS per VIN. I can't even look up part numbers without a VIN.

I have no clues, I would guess not enough to cause an issue.

Ahh that makes sense why she wanted my VIN so badly ha

I think Groove or Stevinson couldnt find it because of the name difference. Nonetheless, she was helpful and was able to locate a part number.

From irate customers "you got me the wrong part" tantrums I used to see at <really any> dealerships, I am not surprised they ask for VIN# to reduce errors.

My USAA insurance card has it so I just grab that when I need to find a part.

I was not smart enough to figure this out, another military buddy was like hey stupid- it's right there.

    Just floating this out there:

I have had a couple people ask me about my door flag decals. They are custom decals I had made. If you would be interested in a set, pm me so I can get an idea of how many sets to have made.

They will come as a set:
    • (Drivers door) US/CO flag both in standard direction
    • (Passenger door) US flag in reverse direction / CO in standard direction.
They are approximately 10” by 3”. They are rated for outdoor use and have held up well to the elements in Colorado and Texas.

Uggghhhhh. I'm getting PTSD from my last truck that I unknowingly bought with a burned up transmission.

Just for "fun" I called a few shops listed on the BG site - none have the machine and all want to just do a drain & fill 1x, which would only get me about 3 new quarts out of 14 ATF. Price varied betwen $189 and 250.

Then I went to the ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association) site and called a few of the warrantied rebuilders/service shops. Same story with the ones I called - 1x drain/fill/new "filter". $190-250 depending on their "synthetic ATF" vs using Toyota WS.

Seems like I'm going to just order some fluid and do it myself.
